When considering a mascara, I look for something eco-friendly, socially conscious, good quality, and that makes me look good. I only had seven days to test this mascara (which was gifted to me by Butterly, thank you!) so I haven't yet had the time to do in depth research. But I can tell you that the application has been very smooth, I can separate my lashes easily and don't get a lot, if any clumps. The mascara stays on for long periods of time and resists tired-mama-eye-rubbing. I was wondering how hard it would be to remove. Like I said, I'm a tired mama, and don't have a lot of energy left at the end of the day to take more than a few swipes to remove my mascara. This one made the cut, as it took the same amount of swipes to remove. Tired mama approved lol -

I received the 10mL rollerball version, which retails at Sephora Canada at CAD43.50 at the time of writing. My rollerball came in a cardboard box with no plastic; the tube is made of glass, with the only discernible plastic being in the cap. I’m going to try finding out if the glass in the rollerball is also recycled, like it is with the big bottles.
The company claims the perfumes in the H2EAU collection to be long lasting, gentle, and hydrating. Is it long lasting? The perfume is water based, so I was wondering how strong the smell would be. It didn’t disappoint; it lasted all day, and I could still smell it the next morning. Is it gentle? I don’t have sensitivities so can’t attest to that, but it didn’t cause any rash or inflammation, so there’s that 😉 Is it hydrating? I only had 7 days to test this product before I had to submit a review, so can’t attest to that, but also, does it really matter since we only put perfume on pulse points? Perhaps it means that, for people who have dry skin or skin that tends to dry out easily, applying this perfume every day won’t create dry spots on application location. I can let you know in six months if I have dry skin where I apply the perfume.
“Brilliant Peony” is an apt name for this scent. It smells very much like peonies, with a musky undertone that balanced it out. At the tail-end of winter, it was a reinvigorating, springtime smell that reminded me of what is waiting for us (hopefully soon!) The scent lasted all day. I can see how someone who has a very sensitive nose could feel overpowered by this smell, but for someone like me with a regular sense of smell, it was very enjoyable, especially since I could smell it through my sweater cuffs.

The texture of this balm was light and cooling, which is already wonderful when it comes to calming an irritation. There is no smell to this balm, which is great when it's being used outside in the park (don't want to attract anything else that might bite, after all...). It worked for some irritations but not others. It calmed a contact rash and some mosquito bites, but not a spider bite and not a reaction to a plant (we couldn't figure out what kind). A little on the expensive side for something that didn't work consistently well and disappointed to note that the packaging isn't recyclable. -

Got this exfoliator from Butterly and Aveeno, and tested it daily for ten days. Very smooth texture with no smell, didn't cause any negative reaction on my skin. Left my skin feeling clean but I did miss the feeling of a mechanical exfoliator, although to be fair, that's a personal preference. Was happy to note that the tube was made of 40% recycled plastic. It disappointed to note that it wasn't recyclable, that's a huge negative factor for me. -

The shampoo provided the clean feel typical of Garnier products without the plastic, and I am all here for it. Honestly just for the plastic I would encourage users to give it a try. But it also has a great smell and is to transportable, be it to the gym, to work, or to travel. I haven't had a chance to look into the supply chain and the sourcing of the materials, but if you are already using a big brand shampoo, this would be a great environmental shift to seriously consider. -

So on the one hand, I really believe that we need to change the discourse around beauty. I was bullied in part because of my hair. After trying to smooth it down using the power of sheer will and water (spoiler alert: they don't work), I became friends with someone who taught me to love my curls, to celebrate them, and to wear them with pride. And this Joico product, which was sent to me for review by the lovely team at ChickAdvisor, enhanced my curls so easily that I can't help but be really excited about it.
But... But, on the other hand, it contains a few curly-drying ingredients, including a silicone that does create build-up. On the environmental side, the packaging doesn't seem to be recyclable, except for the cap--which is made of plastic. There was also a lack of clarity as to the company's ethics, environmental position, and ingredient sourcing. While it's parent company, Shiseido, does seem to do some good work with regards to climate change, microbeads, and water security, there are a lot of questions regarding supply chain practices, unsustainability of its palm oil use, and workers right in China, amongst others.
So, despite how fabulous my curls look, I cannot recommend it, and will not be buying it.

So on the one hand, this cream left my skin feeling incredibly soft. All the winter tightness was long gone in about 2-3 days of using it. Seriously that amazing. On top of that, the texture is wonderfully creamy and applies like a dream, and the lack of smell means that it doesn't contribute to the hodge podge of smells on my pillow. But when it comes to wrinkles, I didn't really notice much, if any change. I'm not sure if it's because I only used it for 3 weeks, if it's because my wrinkles are still so new, or something else. I think consumers should give it a go if they are Neutrogena users and need both a moisturizer and an anti-wrinkle cream, because even if the cream doesn't help with the wrinkles, it at least will not disappoint when it comes to moisturizing. -

It can be hard to find the right natural deodorant; many of them I have found just don't work at all, or not well for me. I haven't recommended many in the past, and Schmidt's natural deodorant is joining the rank of recommended ones. Easy, non-flaky application and all day coverage, with some difficulties during a workout (then again, most deodorants have this issue). The smell is fantastic but does not overwhelm the senses (or one's deodorant). Easily washes off, as opposed to some of the oilier deodorants.
There is just one major problem: the plastic casing. For this reason, I'll be sticking to the natural deodorants that come in glass jars.

The foaming action of this shampoo was quite satisfying, I have to say. With its nice smell, too, it contributed to a lovely showering experience.
It also does add volume to one's hair, at least for a day or so. Does it actually strengthen the hair? I'm not so sure, as there was no noticeable change during the three week testing period.
The reliable quality of Vichy products makes me comfortable recommending this product to others, but I wish the company (and others) would stop making extraordinary promises to women whose hair is thinning. It is a very sensitive thing and to have their hopes shattered again and again by falsely marketed products isn't kind.

The challenge with this review is that I don't have a long-term experience to share.
The product smells great and feels almost velvety to the touch. So applying it was a great experience.
In the short term, I did notice my hair appear fuller on the day I would use this product. But the effect didn't last more than that, and using it daily weighed my hair down, which kind of defeats the purpose!
Now is this because of my hair type, or is it because of the product? I feel that I trust Vishy enough to recommend this product to women looking to add volume to their hair. But just like with most such products, I wouldn't count on a miraculous cure, but rather, a temporary fix that might be worth it -- it's nice to feel fabulous even for just a day or two a week!
Thank you, ChickAdvisor, for gifting me with this product to test and review.
