I took forever and a day to try the Fenty Beauty foundation, mainly because my shade was always sold out (I wear 360). We all know how popular this foundation is mainly because of its expansive shade range and how it shows that YES PEOPLE OF COLOUR BUY MAKEUP! The formula itself though really is amazing and I can't believe it took 40 degree weather and extreme humidity for me to try. I finally purchased this foundation because this summer in Toronto has been insane. Despite the heat I do still like to go out and look glam so I needed a foundation that would hold up in this crazy weather. I was SHOOK at how my face was still matte after being out all day in 42 degree weather dancing on a boat under the sun. Even though I still have to blot the sweat off of my face, I don't actually LOOK oily. Now I don't have super oily skin to begin with, I usually just get a little shiny on my chin and forehead but it still looked great. The coverage is also beautiful and so lightweight. If you're someone who likes to have coverage and wants to wear foundation but you're worried about it melting off, you need to try Fenty! Paired with the corresponding Fenty face primer it works wonders. I can't believe I slept on it for so long. -

When I was travelling throughout Canada I spent almost two months in Alberta. Now living and being from Toronto I never realized how much more moisture was in the air here and how it impacted my skin. Two months out west SEVERELY dried out my skin. A combination of the weather, central heating, altitude and just dryness of the air over all caused my skin to freak out and become extremely dry to the point where it was painful to the touch.
Luckily for me during this time Sephora was having their annual friends and family sale. My mom sent me a code to use and I told her how dry my skin had become to she recommended I use the First Aid Beauty Ultra repair cream.
After about a week of use I could already see a difference in the moisture levels of my skin. My face went from being dry, cracked and textured to smooth and hydrated again.
Although this cream has a high price tag you do get quite a bit of product in the tub and it can be used from head to toe (although I generally just use this on my face). I totally recommend the purchase as it's highly effective and will last you quite a long time (2 - 3 months per tub).

I have tried pretty much every NARS foundation before this formula. All Day Luminous was an absolute disaster on my skin as it creased in every line on my face (and I'm in my 20s!), Sheer Glow wasn't too bad but it definitely was not glowy, more satin/soft matte if anything. Sheer Matte (I believe that's what it was called before it got discontinued) was also just an OKAY formula. You would think since NARS is so high end and has pricey foundations that they would be worth the money but up until this formula was released I felt like they were so over priced.
With this new formula NARS had extended their shade range especially for the tan to deep shades which is very important to me as I am a woman of colour with a deep tan complexion. I know that NARS has always been relatively good when it came to their shade range but I really can appreciate the expansion with this new formula.
Here's the break down on this foundation:
Pros:
-Full coverage without the cake
-Lightweight/comfortable to wear
-Natural skin line finish that makes the face look fresh, never oily
-Great shade selection for all skin tones/under tones
Cons:
-Transfers very easily (must be set with a powder, I recommend pressing it into the skin)
-Sheers out significantly when applied with a beauty blender, must use a brush to get coverage
-Pricey ($60 CAD for 1 fl. oZ)
So despite the high price tag I definitely feel like this foundation is worth it especially if you're on the hunt for a full coverage foundation that is not cakey. I personally purchased this because I love a full coverage foundation but I find most have a thicker consistency with a matte finish which can cake up very easily. This is the best foundation for full coverage (sans colour corrector!) that still looks and wears beautifully throughout the day.

I’ve tried several stick foundations in the past and honestly besides the Hourglass Vanish stick I feel like my skin hates stick foundations.
This stick foundation in particular though was especially horrid.
We all know Tarte doesn’t make the best shade selection for WOC so I had a hard time trying to find a shade to match me. I settled on deep tan which was close ENOUGH but the undertone was pretty off.
Then when I actually tried to wear the foundation it just separated all over my face and created a textured appearance around my nose (which doesn’t have any texture normally). It wore so poorly I had to go back to Sephora and return it.
If you’re looking for a stick foundation I would skip this all together especially if you’re a WOC. It’s rather pricey, does not wear well and has a very poor shade selection.
Although Tarte has been quite controversial among the WOC beauty community they do still have some good products, this just isn’t one of them.

Not a lot of drugstore foundations offer full coverage so to find one that not only covers my acne scars and pigmentation, but also looks seamless is a win-win for me.
My only gripe with this foundation is that in Canada very few shades are available. Currently the darkest shade that is offered in Canada (from what I’ve found) is my shade which is 09 Tan. I’m aware that a wider range exists but it’s not as accessible here. :(
If you don’t mind ordering your shade online and you’re of a darker complexion I would definitely give this a try.
I personally wouldn’t recommend this to anyone with very dry skin though as it may accentuate your dry patches and cake up as the formula is quite thick and has a matte finish.

This is Benefit’s best mascara formula yet. Personally I loved Roller Lash and also enjoyed They’re Real (although it’s not my favourite prestige mascara). However, I’ve always felt like the Bad Gal mascaras fell short compared to Roller Lash and They’re Real. I didn’t have high hopes for this mascara despite it having claims that it’ll give you “out of this world volume” because the Bad Gal mascaras never worked for me. I was totally wrong. This formula has truly blown me away and has easily become my favourite prestige mascara. This formula gives an insane amount of length and considerable volume to provide a false lash effect. I also noticed that it does not flake throughout the day and holds a curl for about 9 hours. I’ve seen some complaints about clumping but I’ve found if you let your coats dry in between application clumping should not be an issue. Overall I would totally recommend this mascara especially to those of you who do not like to wear a lot of eye makeup and just want your lashes to be poppin. Totally worth the $32 price tag. -
