I had the opportunity to try Brookside Dark Chocolate Fruit & Nut Bars courtesy of the ChickAdvisor product review club.
Of the three flavours we were sent, the Cherry with Pomegranate was by far my favourite. Lightly sweet with a dark chocolate bottom, it was a bit tart and enough to keep the hunger away until I could get home from running errands.
I would definitely purchase this flavour in the future and will be looking out for them in store.

This was the first cleansing oil I have tried, and it was provided to me courtesy of the ChickAdvisor product review club.
I must say, I was impressed. The oil turned into a cream once combined with water, and it was able to remove ALL of my makeup, including mascara and liquid eyeliner. It left my skin feeling a little over-moisturized, so I wouldn't use it in the morning. However, for a night time cleanser I really enjoyed the Lipidol Cleansing Face Oil.
Bonus points for the classy packaging that looks great if I leave it out on my counter top.

I've had the opportunity to trial the Lipidol Overnight Face Oil over the past two weeks, courtesy of the Chick Advisor Product Review Club.
I loved the simple, streamlined packaging. I know it doesn't impact the performance of the product, but I am a sucker for well thought out, aesthetically pleasing packaging.
I've recently had some dry, flaky skin on my nose and forehead, and this oil was very effective at moisturizing the skin overnight without making the rest of my skin too oily. A VERY small amount is enough to fully cover your face, and the oil sinks in wonderfully. It feels instantly hydrating, and I found myself rubbing some in to my hands/knuckles after application as well.
I can't speak to the overall effectiveness (other than instant hydration) as I've only been using the oil for two weeks.
The only thing I don't like . . . the scent. Unfortunately I found this oil had a rather strong floral scent, which would prevent me from purchasing it again in the future.

I made this recipe this past weekend for Family Day out at camp. I buy my father a Jalapeno Cheese Ball from Pepperidge Farm every year for Christmas, and thought this would be a nice addition to the weekend. It doesn't taste the same, but was good on its own. The walnuts added a bit of texture and it wasn't too spicy . . . I would actually probably add a bit of Frank's next time.
Spreading the dip over the wedges was tricky, and over time we just ended up gabbing a box of crackers from the pantry. Cheese balls are usually left out for people to eat as they are socializing, which makes them an odd pairing for potato wedges which are best served hot.
Unique idea, and great recipe for a cheese ball . . . just not the best pairing in my opinion.

I love McCain smiles, but their texture just didn't lend well to being the "bread" of a BLT. I could see this being a hit for children, and perhaps I'll revisit it in the future . . . maybe mini smile burgers? -

I've had the opportunity to trial Maybelline Dream Velvet Foundation over the past two weeks as part of the Chickadvisor Product Review Club.
Maybelline Dream Lumi is my go-to summer foundation, and Maybelline Dream Velvet stood up well as a winter option.
I found the formula to spread evenly with no streaks. I preferred to blend with a brush over the Dream Blender. A large-pea sized dab was enough to cover my face, with another smaller bit used for extra coverage around my nose and under my eyes.
I didn't find the formula to be completely matte, but this was a positive. It was just dewy enough to not stick to any dry skin, but matte enough to not give off any shine.
I set it with powder and it lasted the day while I ran errands. It was also -37 degrees Celsius outside, so I can't say much about how it would last in a heat wave!
I still prefer Maybelline Dream Lumi for its weightlessness, but was impressed with Dream Velvet overall! I liked that it wasn't as finicky as Dream Lumi, and that it comes in a hygienic squeeze tube that allows you to get out all of the product while also ensuring it doesn't become contaminated.

I preferred to wet the sponge before applying the Maybelline Dream Velvet foundation. It did help to make a little bit of foundation go a lot further, and gave nice even application.
The attached handle made application a bit tricky, and I found I would have preferred to not have the handle attached at all. I also didn't like that the handle allows a place for water and foundation to sit, not allowing me to thoroughly wash (and dry) the blender.
While I really enjoyed the Maybelline Dream Velvet foundation, I would pass on the Dream Blender in the future.

I'm having one of those days ... baby has a fever and won't sleep anywhere but in my arms. As my stomach started to rumble, I remembered the bag of McCain wedges in my freezer. I bought them to make as part of the McCain challenge, but the recipes will have to wait for another day.
I was able to prep, bake and serve these with my spare arm, and they are hitting the spot. Crispy outside, fluffy inside, just the right amount of salt. Baby is still sleeping, and I'm well fed.

I made a ranch dressing to go on the side and served them with slow cooker French dip sandwiches. They were a hit, and I will purchase them again in the future (if I can find them!)

Of all the flavours of Frank's, this is my favourite. I use it at least once a week on toast, with avocado and a runny egg. A bit of heat and a lot of flavour. I also use it on Thai food ... The sour notes from the lime are great!
