I received a full-size sample from Butterly/ChickAdvisor to review, of the CoverGirl Simply Ageless Lash Plumping Mascara which claims to give thicker, longer, and stronger looking lashes in 4 weeks. It is infused with Hyaluronic Complex and Bamboo Serum, to instantly plump and volumize lashes. The brush is curved for buildable volume and definition without clumping. It claims the gentle formula treats lashes and lash line with care for less lash fallout. I received the non-waterproof color Black. I do like that this is a 3-in-1 formula, because I don't have time nor interest to use a primer plus serum plus mascara. I do like the brush, it made the formula easy to apply and I was able to apply several coats without any clumping. Very build-able formula which dries quickly and leaves lashes feeling soft-to-the touch. I slept with the mascara on and surprisingly, did not wake up to racoon eyes or flaking. I give CoverGirl 5 stars for being cruelty-free but overall, this mascara didn't wow me. I personally prefer a much more lengthening look over a volume look and this formula did not add much length to my lashes at all. If you are looking for a healthy everyday mascara then this provides a good value. -

I received a full-size sample of the Garnier Whole Blends Oat Delicacy Softening Shampoo Bar as part of the ChickAdvisor PRC. This was the first time I have ever used a shampoo bar and I have to say, this product did not disappoint! I will preface this review by stating all Garnier products, globally, are now officially cruelty free - the brand has been given the stamp of approval by the Cruelty Free International Leaping Bunny program, the leading organization working to end animal testing and the cruelty free gold standard; and this is very important to me! Firstly, the scent of the Garnier Whole Blends Oat Delicacy Softening Shampoo Bar is quite pleasant, not overpowering and just enough to leave a lasting but light, fragrance in your hair once it has dried. Secondly, the shampoo bar lathers up quite nicely and feels luxurious. It left my hair feeling clean and my scalp did not dry out from using this bar several times per week. I did follow up with a hair conditioner though, as I don't feel the shampoo bar on it's own was quite enough to leave my strands feeling quenched. For reference, I do live in a dry, cold climate and we are at the end of our Winter months, so hydration is necessary. I do like the ease of having one product to use for hair and would probably purchase this again, especially for camping excursions. The price point is quite reasonable and the product is easy to find on most big-box store shelves. All in all, I would recommend the Garnier Whole Blends Oat Delicacy Softening Shampoo Bar. -

I received a full-size sample of Dove Care by Plants Deodorant as part of the PRC by ChickAdvisor and the Butterly Campaign and I am happy to report, a great review! Firstly, Dove Care by Plants Deodorant is PETA approved, cruelty-free and Vegan. I was VERY happy to see this label as it is one of the first things I look for in any personal care product. I received the Tea Tree scented deodorant and I am not normally a fan of Tea Tree scent for my deodorants as they can be somewhat overpowering however, Dove Care by Plants Tea Tree Deodorant does not have an overpowering tea tree scent at all. It smells very clean and fresh. This product is aluminum-free, made from 99% natural origin ingredients and claims to provide 24-hour odor protection; I am happy to report, this natural deodorant is one of the very few I have worn, that stands up to it's 24-hour odor protection claim! The formula applies well, it is not watery or thin like some natural deodorants can be; but it is also not thick like other natural deodorants either. It has an ideal consistency and wears well under the arms after time. It does apply opaque but as the day wears on, it may become white and visible in the arm pit creases. I have learned over the years of using natural deodorants, to use my fingertips and smooth the product into my arm pits - I did this with the Dove Care by Plants deodorant and it became invisible, while still providing odor control. I really like the price point of this natural deodorant compared to the one I have been using (Native) and that it can be found in nearly every drug store and major grocery retailer. Over the years I have tried so many natural deodorants and even with Native, sometimes let down by it's effectiveness. I will 100% be purchasing Dove Care by Plants Deodorant again and look forward to trying the Eucalyptus and Sandalwood (my favorite!) scents. This is one natural deodorant that I recommend to anyone looking for a cost effective and efficient natural deodorant. You will not be disappointed! Well done Dove! -

I received a free sample of L'Oreal Paris Wrinkle Expert AM/PM Moisturizer as part of the ChickAdvisor PRC/Butterly Campaign. As someone who strives to use products and supports companies which are cruelty-free and Vegan, I will make a PSA about L'Oreal Paris - the jury is still out on whether or not their products are cruelty-free as they use ingredients which have been tested on animals and parent companies which are not cruelty-free. For review purposes only, I did use the AM/PM moisturizers and my first impression was that they were overpowering and very heavily chemically-scented. The formulas did apply and absorb well and did not appear to leave a greasy after feel nor leave an oily appearance on skin. However, when applying both of these products I could not help but wonder how and why these products are tested on animals. It it unfathomable to think that innocent animals are subjected to overuse of chemically laden products to their eyes and face; there is no good reason for animal testing in this day and age. For this reason, I do not recommend L'Oreal Paris products. -

I received a free sample of COVERGIRL Clean Fresh Skincare Weightless Water Cream as part of the ChickAdvisor PRC. As someone who strives to use products and supports companies which are cruelty-free and Vegan, I was very happy to trial this sample and provide a review for it. CG Weightless Water Cream claims to be 90% naturally derived and provide up to 72-hour hydration; because my skin care regimen is twice daily, I can not attest to 72-hours. However, this product did provide hydration for the better part of a long, 14-hour day. It applies and absorbs very well and without leaving the skin with a greasy after feel or oily skin appearance. The COVERGIRL Clean fresh Skincare line provides good value for drug-store brands for those seeking cruelty-free and Vegan skin care products and for this reason, I would recommend it. -

I really wanted to love the Kevin Murphy Young.Again Immortelle Infused Treatment Oil but the truth is, the floral scent is just too much for me.
This hair serum has a fairly high price point so I can't justify not loving the total experience of using it and to me, the scent of a product means a lot as part of said experience.
The treatment oil is meant to be applied to damp hair (and I have not tried it on dry hair). It applies well and is instantly absorbed into strands. No greasy residue is left over nor does it make hair oily throughout the day. It does make hair feel pretty soft and is a weightless feeling hair product. A little seems to go a long way.
I gave this products 3 stars for quality and effectiveness but only two for value. It is a little higher priced than Moroccan Oil (which so far has been my favorite hair serum) and the floral scent as mentioned, is what kills it for me. I won't be buying again.

I swear I've spent the last three years of my life searching for the perfect shade of pink/nude and finally, I found it in MAC Cosmetics Creamsheen Lipstick - color Creme Cup.
For reference, I have naturally fair skin, blue eyes and dark brown hair. My skin tone pulls cool.
This shade is the next shade to my natural lip color, one shade lighter. I will wear this color likely in the Spring/Summer as I find the Modesty color to be a little more pinky/brown; one shade darker than my natural lip color.
The formula is silky-smooth and glides on. Color saturation is deep for a light color and easily buildable/blendable. Lips felt moisturized and did not dry out hours later like so many lipsticks do.
I've been a fan of Arbonne lippies for years but could not find a decent nude shade I liked. I may be a MAC cosmetics covert now though!

I had the opportunity to review Degree® Calming Lavender Odour Protect 0% Aluminum Free Deodorant after being selected for a product review by chick Advisor and received a full-size product free. My first thoughts about this deodorant were not positive, to be honest. Degree is not a natural product company nor do they adhere to many of the sustainability practices I look for in brands I personally use. I had switched from chemical-laden deodorants and anti-antiperspirants over a year ago and was not all that interested in turning back. I agreed to trial this deodorant however, because the ingredients were acceptable. This is an aluminum-free formula deodorant, but it's far from all natural. The scent I trialed is the Calming Lavender; it had a very weak, barely there scent. I do like how the deodorant glides on, it's a very smooth formula that did not irritate my (sometimes) sensitive skin (other deodorants have left my armpits with chemical burns). The deodorant does not leave any residue whatsoever on clothing and washes off very easily, without the waxy feeling left behind from most deodorants after scrubbing. This product claims to provide 48-hour odoor protection and I can attest to that, over the holidays I was able to test that from the comfort of my own home without offending others at the office or gym! All in all, Degree® Calming Lavender Odour Protect 0% Aluminum Free Deodorant does live up to it's claims and it is a very good product. It left me surprised, in a good way! I gave this review 4/5 stars only because I am not a fan of Unilever as a corporation. -
