I love mascara! I love trying new mascaras all the time, seeing the new innovations, improved performance and finding those go to formulas that never let you down.
I have to be honest, I have been a bit disappointed in a lot of the mascaras that I have tried recently, they just haven’t had the performance I am looking for. First thing to note is that I always, always go for a waterproof mascara, I have allergies, and tear up every time I yawn so I need a mascara that can stand up to this constant punishment and keep me looking great all day. Most of the mascaras that I have tried lately just haven’t cut it, they smudge, leave the that awful raccoon look under the eye, they flake throughout the day, and they just don’t provide a lovely coat and separation of the lashes, just clumpy.
So when Butterly and YSL sent me the YSL Lash Clash waterproof mascara for free I was so excited to give it a whirl, because you know I love trying mascara ;).
I wasn’t sure what to expect, as I mentioned I have been let down a lot lately for a great performing mascara.
Well let me tell you, the YSL Lash Clash did not disappoint!!
I have been using the YSL Lash Clash mascara for a week now, every day, and I have not had a single instance of flaking, smudging, or racoon eye. It has held up from application at 6am all the way through until removal anywhere from 9:30pm to 11pm without a change in appearance. It holds up all day long without any signs of failing, colour me impressed!
I love how it applies as well, the conical brush nicely applies the mascara to each lash without getting all over my eyelid creating a mess, it isn’t clumpy, doesn’t pull all of the lashes together into bunches, it just covers each lash beautifully and provides that beautiful fluffy full lash. The formula is also buildable so you can easily work with whatever look you are going for by just adding another coat.
I was also thoroughly impressed with how soft my lashes were with the mascara on, I mean touchable and soft, not stiff or crunchy, just soft and pliable, quite a nice feeling I have to say. The formula contains iris extract and safflower glucoside to nourish and fortify the lashes, I love a mascara that does double duty and cares for the lashes themselves.
I know that a lot of people don’t like waterproof because of the removal factor, but I found removal extremely easy. I do use a waterproof makeup remover, however I found that the YSL Lash Clash mascara did not require a lot of work to remove, it really didn’t. I put my remover on my cotton pad, held it on my eye for a few seconds and 90% of the mascara was removed in that one action, a second wipe removed the rest.
I am impressed so far, I am curious as to whether the performance will remain consistent as time passes, with the changing of the weather, and the mascara is exposed to more oxygen, applications, and in and outs of the tube, for this only time will tell. For the moment I have a new mascara to add to my makeup bag!!

I was sent the Aveeno Calm + Restore Age Renewal Eye Gel free from Butterly and Aveeno to take for a test drive and I have to say I am impressed!
This is a plant-based retinol alternative that is meant for daily use and sensitive skin. With the goal of improving the look for dark circles, puffiness, fine lines and wrinkles, this eye gel has a heavy workload but maintains a lightweight texture and feel. It uses cranberry extract, nourishing oat (an Aveeno signature) and contains Niacinamide (Vitamin B3). The cranberry extract contains antioxidant-rich peptides which improve the look of fine lines and wrinkles, as well as improve the skin’s moisture barrier. The colloidal oat nourishes and hydrates the skin, while the niacinamide works to smooth and brighten the skin. It is free from fragrance, parabens, phthalates, dyes, and alcohol, as well as being hypoallergenic and non-comedogenic.
I have been using the eye gel for the past 4 weeks and have noticed a significant improvement in my dark circles, puffiness, fine lines, and wrinkles. I use it both morning and evening, and as someone with sensitive and allergic skin I have not experienced any redness or irritation that can often accompany retinols. This eye gel has a great texture, is lightweight, is not greasy, and it melts into the eye areas well, it also has a cooling feeling upon application.
Honestly, I wasn’t sure what my expectations were for this eye gel and the claims it made, but I have to say I underestimated this product. I have seen visible improvements in the fine lines and wrinkles around my eyes and at the corners. It is particularly noticeable when I smile or laugh, I really wasn’t expecting it to be so good, and not because of anything in particular, just because I have used various eye creams and not really noticed much difference overall. I have also noticed less puffiness and a reduction in the dark circles under my eyes. I also use the gel around my mouth for the fine lines and wrinkles, this is a little trick to help with the lines that show up around the mouth, especially the fine lines that lipstick will bleed into as we age.
I was also sent the Aveeno Calm + Restore Age Renewal Serum free to try alongside the eye gel and these two products work phenomenally together.
I have been quite impressed with this Aveeno eye gel and I think you will be as well, I highly recommend it!

My skin has also shown signs of improved overall moisture. Which all translates into brighter skin, and easier makeup application.

I was sent the Finishing Touch Flawless Facial Hair Remover from Butterly and Flawless Beauty for free to test out and I have to say I’m pleasantly surprised.
This little gadget is the perfect size for taking care of those random hairs around the eyebrows, and everywhere on the face, its small compact design allows for easy maneuverability and access into smaller spaces. It leaves the skin nice and smooth, with no irritation. I decided to even test it on other spots aside from the face just to see how it handled them. I gave it a run over my underarms, and bikini zone and it handled the courser hair in these spots really well. I do expect that the replaceable blade heads would need to be changed more frequently if you are using it on courser hair more often.
It’s quite, takes one AA battery, is small and compact, has a replaceable blade head, and even includes a little light, although I personally didn’t find that aspect that handy given the location of it. The small design makes it incredibly easy to throw into any purse or bag and carry with you at all times, so you can always take care of that hair you might have missed, or if a spontaneous event comes up you can trim up and have fun without worry!
If you are looking for a small, lightweight, and compact hair removal tool, I recommend you give this little tool a go.

I’ve been using Aveeno lotions for more years than I can remember and I have my favourites for sure but when Butterly and Aveeno sent me a bottle of Aveeno’s Daily Moisturizing Lotion for free I was thrilled because this was one Aveeno lotion I hadn’t tried.
The Daily lotion utilizes Aveeno’s Prebiotic Oat Formula that works to lock in moisture and help protect the skins barrier. The Daily lotion provides 24hr moisturization and is fragrance free, which as someone who is sensitive to scents I truly appreciate this aspect.
The Daily lotion texture is well balanced, not too thick or thin. When applying it on the skin it glides and distributes easily. I find it absorbes fairly quickly and it does not leave any residue or uncomfortable feeling, just soft and moisturized skin. As advertised there is no fragrance to the lotion either which is perfect for those who are sensitive and for those that work in scent free workplace. I also have sensitive and allergic skin and the Daily lotion did not cause me any issues at all.
I am very pleased with moisturization of the Aveeno Daily Moisturizing Lotion and have a new favourite to add to my list, that is if my husband stops stealing it! If you are looking for a nourishing daily lotion, I highly recommend you give this a try!

Aveeno has the solution with its Calm + Restore Daily Moisturizer with 30 SPF.
This 100% UVA/UVB mineral sunscreen is great for sensitive skin and says it blends into all skin tones.
I was sent this moisturize and SPF beauty free from Butterly to give it a try, and try I have!
Admittedly, I was a little surprised when I squeezed it out to find it a light pink/peach tone, thinking perhaps I have misread and it was also tinted. Nope that wasn’t the case at all, and then I thought well this isn’t going to go well, I’m so pale it’s gonna look weird but after applying I was pleasantly surprised that it did blend right in! I watched the peach tone turn to a whiter one and then just blend right into my skin.
So you really only need that pea sized amount to cover your face and neck, I tried less and more, and found the pea size to be the perfect amount. I like it overall, found it did moisturize well, blended into the skin well and wore well when on its own. Given that I have sensitive and allergic skin I wasn’t sure how my skin would react despite the formula being made for sensitive skin, you never know until you try it and for me, no issues which was a great relief.
On the days when I wore makeup, well I’d say my makeup didn’t like the moisturizer so much, they didn’t play nicely together. Some areas of my face were ok but in general, my foundation ended up clumping in some spots or my skin looked drier in others, and around my eyes my makeup crept into my fine lines more. Now I never run into this normally with my skincare routine and this seemed to be repeated each day I applied the moisturizer and my makeup. So that was a bit of a disappointment really.
Overall, this is a comfortable moisturizer, effective and great to reduce a step and ensure I have my SPF as well when I’m going makeup free, so perfect around the house for everyday. It just doesn’t work for me, with my makeup. On days when I wear makeup I will need to go with another option. I’d also love to see this available in a 50 SPF.
I would still highly recommend you give it a try for your everyday.

I absolutely love trying new skincare from all different price points and the Aveeno Calm + Restore did not disappoint. Featuring Aveeno’s signature oat complex alongside feverfew, this cleanser is gentle and effective.
The pump bottle makes distribution quick, easy, and mess free. The texture is that of a slightly thick gel moisturizer with an excellent slip. It glides along your skin with ease, effectively cleansing the grime of the day off the skin for a clean and refreshed feeling. It does not strip the skin, or leave it feeling tight at all, and there is no residue left over by the cleanser.
I have been using the cleanser since receiving it a couple of weeks ago and my skin has not negatively reacted to the switch at all, it feels soft to the touch, hydrated, and clean.
Not only is the cleanser wonderful, Aveeno has taken steps towards a more sustainable future with the packing of this product. You can get your initial cleanser in a pump bottle for easy and convenient use and then when you are running low you can just grab the refill pouch and refill your pump bottle at home. The refill pouch is quick and easy to use with a twist off cap and pouring spout that will allow you to refill your bottle twice, significantly reducing packing waste and return trips to the store when your bottle hits empty.
If you are looking for a gentle, yet effective cleanser you won’t go wrong with the new Aveeno Calm + Restore facial cleanser.
