I got this tinted moisturizer at a press event. To be honest I never wear foundation, it's just too heavy and my skin is too dry. If I want to add colour I use some bronzer mixed with pressed powder as I am rather fair and even a light bronzer makes me look like I have a dirty face. The Elizabeth Arden makeup artist convinced me to let her put this on, and slipped it in my bag. I kind of forgot she had and later that day a friend asked if I had been out in the sun and that my skin looked like it had just a bit of colour. I looked in the mirror, and really liked the way it looked and have been applying it every day. I get an oily forehead and it doesn't help with that, but I don't find it looks like it's sitting on top, it absorbs really well. I also like that it doesn't accentuate my dry spots. It's really light and easy to apply, I really don't put a lot on and it thins out well. I'd recommend it to anyone who isn't a fan of foundation but wants to add some colour and even out their skin. -

If you're a fan of True Blood, the best gift you could give yourself is the books. This is the first one in the series and how the books and show differ mainly is that the books are told in Sookie's voice. She's very funny and clever and very entertaining.
In case you aren't familiar here's the scoop: The main character is Sookie, who lives with her grandmother, Adele. Sookie is a telepath, and can read others minds, making it hard for her to date and regarded as the town weirdo. Sookie is a bar maid at Merlotte's and one night Bill walks in and it's love at first site. The catch? Bill's a vampire. In this world vampires have recently "come out of the closet" and are trying to live normal lives. Instead of drinking human blood they drink synthetic blood, making them, theoretically at least, no longer a threat to humans.
Several murders occur in Bon Temps where they live, and Bill becomes a suspect because many of the bodies have fang marks. Sookie's brother Jason is romantically linked to two of the victims, and he is arrested. Wanting to help her brother, Sookie asks Bill to take her to a vampire bar called Fangtasia, which is owned by Eric Northman, a vampire much older and more powerful than Bill.
The book is concerned with Sookie trying to clear her brother of the murders, and she also gets caught up in Eric's problems at the bar. Her and Bill's relationship progresses (the books are a bit graphic!) and it's a fun mystery-style story.

This is a terrific read. Really thoughtful and feels very authentic.
It's set in Jacksonville, Mississippi in the early 1960s. Told from the POV of three women who all know each other: Aibileen Clark, a middle-aged African-American maid who is raising the children of a white woman, and who has recently lost her only son; Minny Jackson, an African-American maid who gets in a fight with her employer and evokes her wrath making finding work difficult; and "Skeeter" Phelan, a young white woman (who's friends with Aibileen's boss and Minny's former boss) and recent college graduate who wants to be a journalist. When she moves home after college she finds that her family's maid has disappeared and her mother won't say why she left. The stories of the three women intertwine to explain how life in Jackson, Mississippi revolves around "the help", with complex relations of power, money, emotion, and intimacy tying together the white and black families of Jackson.
The book has been turned into a movie staring Emma Stone, coming out this summer. The book is really well done and complex, and while I am sure the movie will be great, I would definitely recommend reading the book first!

I have taken all of the classes here from yoga to cardio, stretch and bootcamp ballet classes. The only one I haven't taken is the classical ballet method. I am by no means coordinated, but I didn't feel intimidated by the instructor or the more agile people in the class. There were a few at my level, and we got an amazing work out trying to keep up. Those who were better were sweating and huffing too, so it's one of those things that everyone gets something out of. I think this is because when you do other fitness classes the movements and they exercises are so different from what you do in these, that everyone is working their muscles in a new way. If you're in a fitness funk and need to shock your body by doing something new, one of these will definitely do the trick.
After taking the classes I felt like my core strength was so much better and my energy levels really perked up. When doing other sports I could feel that I was stronger and my body responded quicker. You know how the joke was that football players should do ballet? Well I totally get it now, you really do get so much out of these movements: strength, stretch, and cardio.
All of the instructors are very nice and there are showers and change rooms on site as well.

I love the feel of this cream eyeshadow, really lovely for summer when you want to feel like your makeup isn't heavy on an already hot face. I've only tried "Sugar" which is a cool, light smokey-pink. I applied with my finger. It's not too shimmery, and is rather sheer. I'd be curious to see how pigmented the darker shades are. It didn't disappear into my creases right away, and didn't feel sticky like my eyelids were tacky when I blinked, just soft and powdery, really nice! -

This bag is great for travelling as it has a zipper top. You have to spot wash it though if you get it dirty as it has suede reinforcements where the straps meet the body (making it tough).
A great shopping tote to carry anywhere!

How come no one thought of this sooner? Seriously such a clever idea. Love the trimmer, it works really well and is very user friendly. The razor though doesn't feel all that sharp and I found myself switching to another after only a half dozen uses. I still use the trimmer part, though, and the battery really lasts. I feel a bit bad about how wasteful it is throwing it away eventually.
My friend who is prone to faint sideburns (she's a girl) uses the bikini trimmer to trim them down, and really likes it.

I've only ever gone here for pedicures. Really well done. I found it was very resilient and they did a great job of buffing my feet in addition to making my nails look lovely. Staff was very nice and accommodating. Great selection of polishes from CND, Essie and Zoya. It's a bit pricey because of the location, but you'll get a quality pedicure. -

This is a great go to top coat. I've used it up and repurchased several times over and for the price point it's excellent. I took it with me when I went on vacation and was walking in the sand a lot, reapplied every other day to keep my manicure and pedicure from chipping and getting dull from walking on the beach. I still get the odd chip when wearing this one so it's not the best on the market, but the price is good and I find it dries really fast. -

Say body butter and I immediately imagine trying to get my clothes on over my greasy skin. I get very dry skin, and butters are the only thing rich enough I find, but I hate how long they take to absorb (and they never fully do). This body butter really amazed me, however, it almost dries completely and feels almost powdery on the skin after you let it absorb for 20 minutes. The smell is phenomenal. I don't think I've ever smelled a guava, but I found this to smell a bit like magnolia, or at least perfumes that are based around a magnolia note. I found it faded as the day went on, and wasn't overpowering (no comments from coworkers).
The press release (I got the product at a press event) says that it has Shea butter and Quince extract (both soften and moisturize skin). There's also sunflower, almond and avocado oils to nourish.
It's my new favourite!
