I wanted to love this mascara. I liked the ingredients and I had heard such good things about Ilia's mascaras so I bit the bullet and bought the mini. When first applied this mascara looks nice. I like the brush shape, it does add volume and it's a nice depth of black. But this always smudges on me. Always. And then the smudges are difficult to get rid of. It's also difficult to remove at the end of the day. For the price of this mascara I'm just not impressed at all. So my search for an amazing mascara without plastic in the formula continues. -

I got this candle on a whim when a friend from work said that it was one of her favourites and that the company had brought back the scent after years with it discontinued. Best impulse purchase I've made in a long time! Not only was it a large candle (three evenly spaced wicks), but it comes in a beautiful glass jar. The jar is decorated with white spruce boughs on a green slightly metallic background. However the best part is by far the smell. It makes me so happy. Sweet without being overwhelming and balanced with a nice (almost fresh) woody note. However no pine scent (which is great as I don't like conifer in my candles). I'm so pleased with this purchase. I'm not sure I would pay full price for one, but on sale it was a win! -

I like to use essential oils to help me fall asleep, ease my mind and honestly just because they smell good! Plant Therapy is my go to brand- mainly because of their transparency, safety guidelines and customer service.
This Passive Lotus Diffuser is great. Made of a porous plaster it looks lovely and works well. I like that it will allow you to add your desired amount of oils to go from subtle to strong. Plus the detailed design is really pretty. I love the slim design, the little wooden tray it comes with and the very protective packaging (despite being fragile, the way they packed it there wasn't any damage at all). Not cheap at $12.95 USD but if you can get it on sale (there are often coupon codes) well worth it.
Something to note though is that if you have coloured oils (most of them should be) then it will stain the passive diffuser. I personally only add the oils to the centre of the flower- it keeps the rest of it pristinely white while still working like a charm.
Overall I highly recommend this passive diffuser and Plant Therapy in general.

I love this perfume. I love the smell (a beautiful blend of vanilla, pear and rose, with vanilla as the main note). I also love the staying power (this lasts a good 8 hours on my skin). I love the ethos of the brand with each perfume supporting different charitable efforts. Vanilla woods helps with education and healthcare.
Most mainstream perfumes cause me to have headaches, but not this one. Plus I breathe this in and I'm instantly happier.
Honestly one of the only perfumes I've ever considered buying the full size of.

I love that the packaging has no plastic and I also love how lightweight the whole set-up is. It's so much easier to store and lift than one of those bulky liquid detergent bottles.
The whole process is easy too. Just rip off the pre-measured sheet (or two if you have a very large or heavily soiled load) and rip that into three. Put the bits in spread out amongst the dirty clothes and continue as normal.
They also clean well. I had heavily soiled field work clothes and there was no problem with leftover smell or dirt.
A note about fragrance of these. Even the 'wildflower' scented ones that I purchased didn't have much of a smell. I never noticed a scent on my clothes, which is probably a good thing.
Overall I will definitely purchase these again.

I've always struggled with my hair. I have a ton of it and the individual strands are fine and so matt and tangle easily. Most conditioner does very little, but this was recommended to me by my hair dresser when I mentioned I'd like to emphasize my natural curl more.
Although expensive this is phenomenal. I add it to my hair and as I massage it through my strands it actually starts to untangle. I finger brush it through as I rinse it out and it's tangle-free. I can actually use less conditioner with this on my hair in comparison to what I normally have to use with other brands and I get a much better result.
There are some caveats though. First it's hard to find, not cheap, and/or shipping is expensive. Secondly you can get a bottle where the oils has gone off a bit. Normally it has no smell at all, but I have received a bottle through a separate retailer where the oils smelt like they weren't fresh. It still worked just as well though it is something to consider.
Even with these though I love this conditioner. Just need to find a good local source for it!

I am guilty of using Face Wipes. I like to use them to take off my make-up before washing my face. However, so many are made with plastic and don't biodegrade I felt guilty. Or they smelled awful. Or they stung my sensitive eyes and skin like crazy.
Then I found Beekman 1802.
I am not sure about the Goat's Milk claims when it applies to their face wipes but man do I love these. Here's why:
1. They are biodegradable. (No guilt!)
2. They are effective at taking make-up (even mascara and eyeshadow) off fairly quickly without irritation to my skin.
3. They come either unscented or scented with amazing smells. (My favourite is Honeyed Grapefruit).
4. They DON'T DRY OUT. Yeah, whereas other wipes will dry out even if you seal the package properly these babies don't. I don't understand the magic involved I'm just grateful I can actually use the whole package up.
They aren't cheap, but the quality of the wipes are well worth it in my opinion. Plus Beekman does have kits and sales throughout the year. I would recommend them. I've gone through at least 5 packages myself!

I bought this lipstick as part of a package deal that Beauty Heroes was having. It was expensive and an impulse purchase. I wasn't sure if it was going to come back to bite me. I tend to think true Luxury beauty lines are overpriced. I ended up loving all three of the Autumn in New York set's lipstick though. The set contained Soho, Bisou, and Lou- which is the shade I am reviewing.
The formula on these is fantastic. I didn't believe that there was a lipstick out there that would both last and have moisturizing properties but these somehow manage it. I find the formula to be creamy enough not to dry out my lips but still long lasting. it's not transfer-proof by any means but they do last well on me (which most lipsticks do not).
My favourite colour of the three I purchased was Lou- a medium toned reddened-brown-pink shade. However there is no difference in formula between shades.
The packaging actually impressed me for these as well. Beautiful sleek heavy black metal packaging with a magnetic closure. Pretty little embossed design in the top of the lipstick too.
I would recommend these overall, but try to score them on sale- worth it but even better if you can get it on sale!

Just got this concealer as I ran out of my previous one. I have very dark circles under my eyes, oily skin and the beginnings of fine lines. I truly didn't believe a concealer was going to do more than slightly camouflage my under-eyes. I saw this recommended over a YouTube channel and thought I would give it a try. It is only $24 Canadian which is much better than the $40 concealer I was using. The best things about this concealer are:
1. Coverage- it truly covers my dark circles better than anything else I've tried.
2. Consistency- despite it's ability to cover my dark circles it is surprisingly light going on, and when I powder it it looks skin-like (I powder everything as my skin is oily). Additionally it doesn't crease in the fine lines around my eyes!
3. Lasting Power- this lasts all day under my eyes despite many hours of work and oily skin.
Overall I am so glad I gave this a shot. The packaging is even nice with a glass tube. The only con I would mention is that it does have a huge doe-foot applicator. I dab it onto my hand and then dab from there onto my face because otherwise there is too much product applied in one area. Def. worthwhile though. I'll have to test further to see how it works on blemishes.
