This product works well as a smoothing cream. It tames my hair and keeps it that way until my next wash, has an inviting but not super-strong scent, and has a good price. You can find this stuff basically anywhere! It's really light, but it's a little sticky... I know I've complained about stickiness from hair products before, but this one works for me in a pinch! It's not super sticky on my hands, but I do need to wash them off after... and once it dries it's no longer sticky in my hair. It's just the time while your hair dries where it's sticky. Not a big deal because it detangles well! -

I hate having an itchy scalp and like the scent of mint and/or eucalyptus, so I decided to try this to see what I thought about it. I bought this at an Avondale store for around $8 bucks, but apparently the regular price for it at a drug store is half that. That's okay! I know where to go next time.
The price is decent, but even better at a drug store, the quality is awesome (it's so rich, and doesn't leave your hair squeaky clean -- so you know you're not stripping essential oils from your hair) and it works well for my hair. I love the smell, I love the price, I love everything about it! It leaves my scalp feeling excellent ... no itch, no fuss, no muss.

Let me just say this: I like the hold of a hairspray, but I hate the stickiness of hairspray! I can find smoothing creams that have just as much taming power and hold as a hairspray, without the stickiness. This bottle has been just sitting in my room because I dislike using it that much... I may as well throw it out. It's not a bad product per se, but again... the stickiness factor. Ick!
If you're okay with the stickiness factor this product is a yay... it holds really well and you can either brush it on or spray it on.

To be honest, I don't use this product to powder anything on my body (aside from the occasional dab when my feet become too sweaty), but I DO use it on my hair to sop up grease. It may seem a little weird, but it most definitely works! As I mentioned in one of my other reviews of the Tresemme dry shampoo, powder works better. I gave up on the Tresemme shampoo and decided to try my luck with the powder. It worked! It gave my hair a little more volume so it didn't look flat, and if you didn't know any better you wouldn't have known I used powder, because I wiped off the excess with a towel! It didn't have a chalky look at all. I recommend getting the scented powders for your hair so no one actually knows you used baby powder, unless you really like that scent. I don't particularly, but I was in a bit of a pinch. There is a jasmine scented powder, but I'm not sure of any of the other scents.
Don't use this on your ends... just your roots! This works for any girl with oily hair.

I like this stuff, but because I don't straighten my hair all that often, I don't use it a lot. I bought the bottle for around $20 at a salon. It is oil-based, but that's okay! It doesn't weigh down your strands and it doesn't make it look obvious that your hair has oil on it. It's a creamy oil and works well for taming those pesky baby hairs at your hairline, flyaways, or even split ends. I use the product for all of those annoyances and it works like a charm! It has a lovely but not typically shampoo-like smell which is nice for a change. You really just need a pea sized amount to work through problem areas, but I made the mistake once of using too much... I definitely rocked the greasy look that day. Use a very, very minimal amount to tame your bangs or face-framing pieces or else you'll run into the same problem... without looking at the bottle, I can't actually remember if it says how much to use or not.
You can also use this product when you put your hair up to tame those hairs that always seem to pop up... if you like the slicked back look, this is a good choice. It doesn't matter if your hair looks a little oily; the slicked back look calls for that! It lasts forever because you're only supposed to use a pea sized amount. For longer haired girls (i.e. your hair falls below your bra band) you may want to use more, but start with the pea sized amount, work it through and see where that gets you. This can be used on all hair types.

Some days are better than others with this product. I've had days where my hair was second-day dirty and it worked well, and I've had days where this product didn't work so well on my second-day hair. If I put it up, 99% of the time my hair is fine and doesn't look greasy with this product, but if I have it down I usually have to pin my front layers back or stick in a hairband because my roots look greasy. I haven't figured out why sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't, but I sure wish I'd bought the one for oily hair! The one I use for normal to dry hair is a mousse-y, foamy type and the other, for oily hair, is a powder. The powder seems like it would give more volume and would prevent those greasy appearances!
If I do slip on a hairband when using this product, I usually leave my hair tousled... the product itself gives good volume to my roots, which I certainly can't complain about. It has a nice, typical fresh-shampoo smell which I like, and doesn't leave your hands sticky if you're pressed for time and can't wash them right away. The cost is good, and you can find both types (dry/normal or oily) in drugstores. You can also blow dry your hair after using this product which is, from what I hear, the best way to use this product... but I usually let my hair air dry as I don't have a lot of time. To each their own; I recommend this one if your hair doesn't get greasy easily, and I recommend the other one for oily hair if you have oily roots after missing a single day of washing. It's non drying, so you could even wash your hair every other day to keep the moisture in, and use this on days where you don't wash!

Well, to tell you the truth I've only used this product twice on my hair because I'm not the beachy, surfer girl type. I'm not even sure why I bought it! But, when I did use it, the salt spray texturized my hair and made it look (attractively) windblown. It wasn't sticky and didn't dry my hair out, but the few times I did use it I didn't use my usual smoothing cream. It didn't make my hair frizz, which was good, but I feel naked without the smoothing cream which is why I don't use the salt spray often. This product is found in drugstores, usually for about $5, and is perfect for summertime. -

I MISS THIS STUFF! I can't find it anywhere; I used to be able to find it in drugstores all the time, but it's been over a year and I still haven't had any more luck. This was my (cheap) dream product. It did everything I expected and wanted a defrizzing product to do, and then some! It was usually about $3-4 and you'd only need a quarter sized (maybe a loonie for longer hair) dollop for it to work. It smelled so good! It was the only thing I'd use until I stopped seeing it around. If you can find it, stock up! You never know when it could disappear. -

If you're in a pinch and need a hydrating shampoo, this is what I recommend. It smells like orchids and coconut which reminds me of a Hawaiian vacation, and it moisturizes almost as well as a salon product considering it is from a drug store, after all. Using the shampoo and conditioner together is probably the best idea as you know they're both moisturizing (using a smoothing shampoo and a volumizing conditioner is NOT a good plan), and they're both around $6 or $7 which means they're totally affordable. You can find these products in a small, normal sized bottle, or the mega- or family-sized bottle (which means you save more - yay!!). I buy this often, usually in between other shampoos and conditioners. Because I have frizzy hair, I'm volume-shy, so I try to go for the most smoothing products. This does the trick for me, but it may not work as well on a girl with wild curls. I do know my sister (who has Beyonce-curly hair) uses this product, but she also uses the Herbal Essences mousse to tame the frizz. -

For a salon product, I couldn't get a better deal! I paid $30 for it and it's my miracle in a container. My hair ends up super smooth for days, tangle free, and has a really nice, floral scent after using this. You only need a little bit; I just dip my two fingers in and take a small scoop to work through my hair. I leave it in anywhere from a half hour to a few hours, but some people even leave it in overnight and their hair feels like silk after! As far as I know it doesn't stain your pillows... but if you're worried about it, I'd put an old towel down on your pillow just in case. Oh, and because you only need a little, the tub lasts forever and a half! Bingo! I only need to use it maybe once a month, but you can use it up to weekly if you wish. -
