I came across this little cafe in downtown St. Catharines in late 2009. My boyfriend had taken me there because he said the owner makes the best hot chocolates - gourmet, with REAL CHOCOLATE, ladies! I love-love-LOVE the hot chocolate. I am lactose intolerant so it's hard to go often without suffering too much, but when I go, I will order the hot chocolate and it makes my entire week that much better. The price is great - it's only around 3.50 CAN for a hot chocolate, and you can get it made with either dark chocolate, milk chocolate or white chocolate. It is made with milk as well, instead of water which means it's a heck of a lot richer than most hot chocolates.
When I went there the first time I discovered the guy runs the store by himself and he only has one other employee (he didn't at the time). It's very homey and welcoming and the atmosphere is friendly and comforting. He cooks all the food from scratch and makes all his drinks from scratch. The food cost me maybe 6 bucks tops, so for a drink and food it'd be under 15 bucks. Not bad, you really get excellent service and food for what you pay. This cafe does have a washroom, which is great because I've been to a few who don't (which is a problem when drinking a lot of coffee!). It also has interesting music (i.e. tribal or nature sounds) playing in the background, and the owner always has interesting stories to tell. IT's open every day of the week. I've brought my friends there to lounge on the couch (yes, couch!) and play board games or read, but I've also gone there for the annual halloween party and for a casual lunch with friends (in the entrance, rather than in the back with the couches). All in all, I'd recommend a try to everyone! Some may be weirded out by the tribal music and the personality of the owner, but he's really so nice and I like it there! I think it's completely worth it.

I've never had a problem with this product! It delivers what it should - volume with very little clumping (though there have been a few times I've applied it and ended up with clumps...), and it lengthens. I own the brown coloured non-waterproof version, and I'd buy it again despite the fact it clumps sometimes. The wand is a little bigger than my other mascaras, but it's manageable. This is good for someone who has an unsteady hand ... you don't need to drag it through your lashes any more than two times for it to look good. The formula is buildable. -

I typically stop in this store if I'm looking to buy a cute pair of shoes - any style! I've bought boots, runners, flats and heels from here. I think I've even bought some bright shoelaces and socks. The service is usually friendly; I did meet one lady at the cash who wasn't too pleasant, but that seems like it's an unusual thing for this store. The staff are helpful and mostly greet you when you walk in. If you need help finding a style or a size, they can usually help.
I had an experience last week when I was shopping for skate shoes with my brother, and they didn't have his size in the only style he liked (he's picky). So, the cashier offered to call up the closest store in Hamilton to see if they had the size. It turns out they did, so we got her to put it on hold for us. I love customer service like that; that's the way it should be.
In terms of my shopping experiences, most of the prices are good, and I usually find a few pairs of shoes per shopping trip I want to take home with me. I'm also picky, so it's nice to see at least some stores can cater to my tastes. I do wish that some of the more appealing shoes weren't so expensive, but perhaps I have expensive tastes. :)
You can't really go wrong looking in this store for shoes before anywhere else. They're typically the cheapest in either of the malls in my town, and if I don't find anything there (which I usually do), there are still other places to look. No harm, no foul.

Well, I felt like doing this review because I'd heard a lot of mixed reviews on this product. I got it a year ago because I was sick of using my generic brick-phone (similar to one of those Nokia bricks, but not).
Even now, a year and a bit later, I've been hearing about how quickly Blackberries break. I don't think this is true if you're properly taking care of it. My internet is a little slow, but once I visit a few pages it gets faster and I have no issues with it. My email works great on the phone; it's very convenient for me! I put reminders on my phone if I need to do something or if I have an appointment; there's a task list and a memo pad as well. Each of these are useful for me!
A year ago when I bought this phone, everyone had one; everyone wanted one. Now, not so much though there are still many people with a Blackberry. I think it'll stay; they'll come out with newer models and possibly rewire what's available in terms of apps and such, but the idea of a smartphone will not disappear. They're so convenient, I can't even imagine my life without one!
I cannot remember the price when I bought it, but I do remember that it was quite expensive. I bought a plan, so it wasn't anywhere near what buying the phone without a plan would be (between 4-500 bucks!), which is still good on its own.
Overall, I'd recommend this to anyone who's looking for an easy way to keep track of their schedule and an easy way to access email and contact people.

The only movie theatre in my city is now across town from me; they got rid of the (cheaper and better) one that was closer years ago. This theatre, Empire studio 8, is rather expensive in comparison to most theatres (like the one in Niagara Falls, for example) and the selection isn't fantastic. I know they can't usually help what they have in their theatre, so that isn't a huge issue.
What I do have a problem with is the lack of caring when it comes to the employees and their jobs. They do their job, but they're pretty well zombies and don't care about any questions or concerns you may have. The clean up crew does a half-assed job; I have found garbage in and around a few of the seats when I went. The clean up crew gets paid to clean and make sure the theatre looks presentable for guests. The hosts who check you in to your theatre for your movie don't usually care if you walk past them without showing your ticket, so you could easily walk into a different movie than what you paid for. These people are getting paid for creating a nice, clean, inviting environment. I don't see why management hasn't noticed that they don't do this yet.
Overall, I will continue to go there since there's nothing closer, but I have gone to the one in the falls just because it's cheaper and the service is better.

I was shopping in the mall one day, but was relatively short on cash. I remembered I needed shampoo and conditioner, and I found the Suave brand in most of the drugstores in the mall. So, I ended up buying one shampoo (Green apple scent) and one conditioner (also green apple scent) for $2 each. I thought that since it was a cheap brand, it wouldn't be as effective as the bigger and more promoted brands. Boy, was I wrong. The shampoo cleaned my hair well; it felt squeaky clean after the wash. The conditioner wasn't too heavy, but wasn't too light either. I felt it moisturized my hair very well, considering! I usually don't go without my leave-in hair creme, since my hair tends to frizz. I went once or twice without using the cream after I had used the two Suave products. My hair didn't frizz nearly as much as I thought it would! These products seem to smooth your hair just as well as any other brand, but for a fraction of the price. I have tried the strawberry and green apple scents, and I bought the new coconut scent to try. Any of the ones I've tried have been great; the scents lasted until my next wash (two days later!)
I would certainly recommend this product to anyone who doesn't need anything specific for their hair (girls with curly hair - the conditioner may not be heavy enough for you). I love it, and it's now all I use!

I've started an annual ritual - I go here every year for my birthday! I love how you can choose your level of spice (I'm a wuss... I always get level one!), and I love that there's always a good selection of exotic drinks (pineapple, mango, lime)! The price is good; I always get more food served to me than I can handle. The food is still great leftover and the servers are polite and check in with you frequently. The atmosphere is great! -

I first bought this creme because of my hair dye. In the box of dye, there was a conditioner (the brand of both was Garnier). I loved what it did for my hair, and went on to try the regular conditioner from Garnier. Since that worked well, I tried the conditioning creme. It leaves my hair so soft! My hair is not greasy the day after I shower, it's soft, it's touchable, and smells great. It's easily affordable, and is just as good as a leave-in creme I bought at a salon. My advice? Go out and get your hands on some! They have some for coloured hair too! -

When I first entered the restaurant, it appeared relatively clean, though the waiters and waitresses were all congregating at the front of the store to eat their lunch. I found this a little strange. We then were seated and left for about 20 minutes to decide on what to eat. Half of our order didn't arrive until we inquired about it at the very end, and we spent overall about two hours for the four of us in the restaurant. I think this is excessive. We didn't see the waitress after she brought the food until about an hour later, when we asked where the rest of our food was. If you actually receive the food, it's well cooked and tastes great. I would probably go to the other sushi place down the street instead of this one. -
