I love the seasonal Quo collections. I've said this before and I'll keep saying it, I don't know why Shoppers doesn't promote Quo more. It's got decent quality products for a good price. I'm a fan of their powdered products in particular eyeshadows and blushers. I've haven't tried things like foundation/makeup or mascara's. I'm neutral on their lip products, but love their brushes. As always this seasonal collection has a lovely overall design and offers a variety of colours. I picked up the Sensational colour set and there's a nice mix of pastels and some rosy shimmers, my go to favourite. There are two other eyeshadow palettes in the collection. -

Really hand for spot treating cystic acne to pull it to the surface. -

Single use sachets of a variety of face masks from Shoppers for face and a few for hair. There's a wide variety, although in all honestly I sometimes forget which one I liked so I'm sure I've tried quite a few. I do wish they'd offer these in tubes to cut down on the waste, as they are packed in non recyclable foil lined plastic sachets. There's a bit too much for one mask, but it's hard to store them effectively for a second so I generally just glob on as much as I can. I'm personally partial to the clay based or peel off types. Often on sale 3 for $5. -

I purchased this one sale, so I'm not certain of the regular price, but it does come in a 75 ml jar rather than the usual 30 or 50 ml so the price is a bit better than usual. Marketed as a 'sleeping mask' the idea is that you let this seep in overnight but it doesn't leave an oily/slippery finish like many hydrating masks I've used (Biotherm as an example). With the cold winter and some health issues my skin in itchy dry in spite of regular use of moisturizers and serums. I ended up putting two layers on, over serum, just because it felt so good and this a.m. when I woke up my skin didn't feel tight and was plump to the touch. Not certain this is something you would use every night but perhaps a few times a week in the winter and once a week in the summer. Amazing find. -

After years of having combination skin, i'm still getting used to having 'normal' skin, and after this cold winter in Ontario, to having very dehydrated skin. This cleanser was part of an offer at Shoppers' but in the end I found it left my skin feeling greasy, which is not something I desire from a cleanser. If you have dry skin this might be for you, but for those who want cleanser to leave a 'clean' feeling this isn't the product for you. -

SimpleTax is an online service for those with simple/easy tax returns that can be done online, without software, and filed electronically with no added fees. It's a pay what you want/can service and if you have an easy return it's amazingly quick. The forms and interface are reasonably intuitive and you don't have to do any math. Just copy your info from your tax receipts into the system and your entire tax statement is prepared for you. This is my 3rd year using the system, have recommended it to several people. The one time I used tech support they answered promptly, on a Saturday! They are a Canadian company, they spell out clearly who might not be able to use the service and there's an option to donate money to help them out. Worth a look. -

I'm generally pretty committed to my Grow Plump mascara. Once I find something I like I don't tend to go on trying other things, but being part of Ipsy for the past 12 months I've had opportunity to try about 6 new mascara's both high and low end and still liked the Grow Plump. However I kept reading this mascara was the best low cost option on the market. After noticing it featured a plastic brush, which I usually don't love, I decided against it, but when I saw it on offer for $5.99, I decided to give it a whirl.
Surprisingly I was impressed. The brush doesn't seem to hold a lot of product which means those short plastic/rubber bristled do not deposit a clump of product. While not too wet, which is my preference, there's time to brush out your lashes to get distribution and length. I was also able to use the end of the brush to comb out the end lashes and the bottom lashes. The mascara stayed all day, including when I forgot to rubbed my eye, and more impressive, didn't smear on my lids as often happens due to my deep set eyes.
Overall, a contender for a replacement. A few more wears to test endurance.

I read about this, here on Chickadvisor and on other sites and found it on offer at SDM today so thought I'd try. It was hard to see the colours through the packaging and I came home with a fairly neutral colour called "Caramel Apple" which is mostly nude, but doesn't make my lips look dirty as some nude colours can. Seems creamy and will probably be a go to on hot summer days when you don't want to sweat off your make up. Maybe next time i'll go for a bolder colour. -

Essence is a very low cost cosmetics collection that retails most of its products for under $5. They put out 'collections' every month or so and I personally find their eyeshadows and nail polish quite good. This is a duo 'peach' toned blush in a paper heart shaped box. The colour is a little light, but better that than being heavy saturated and going on too dark. There's another colour with a much brighter pink the box in the collection. -

I have fine, chin length hair that I usually wash daily, in part because it looks oily, and in part because I get a serious case of bedhead in the morning. I've tried two other dry shampoo's in the past and found them lacking. After being asked to review this product, and given a free sample by Chick Adviser, I don't think dry shampoo is for me.
After a shower without washing my hair, I tried the Batiste product. First off I'm not a fan of aerosol cans, I find them very difficult to control. I eventually got a feel for how fast the product would come out and how to aim it. The product is white, against my darker red hair which meant being careful about massaging it in, as suggested on the packaging, and combing, something I do not usually do once my hair is dry. The dry shampoo did do a decent job of removing the oiliness from my hair, but it did have a odd 'old lady' smell I didn't love. However as my hair is shorter, I didn't notice it during the day, but I also can't really smell my own hair. The process however did not make my scalp feel refreshed, as it does when you wash your hair. The dry shampoo did not remove the dreaded bed head, even after combing. The product did last throughout the day, and if you have longer hair, you might be able to put it up to hide the bed head, but with shorter hair this isn't an option.
Overall the Batiste performed as advertised. The smell wasn't my cup of tea but it wasn't overwhelming. But I don't think I'll be adding dry shampoo to my routine permanently. I just don't like that I look disheveled all day.
