Unfortunately nothing will ever quite taste as good as deep fried fries, but i don't want to deal with hot oil in my house. These oven fries tend not to do that thing were the cooking point between soggy and freezer tasting and overcooked is hard to find. The five minute version seems to miss that a bit but because their shoestring fries it's easy to over cook them. Good for a treat once in awhile. -

the professional colour i've used for about 15 years suddenly requires a license to purchase so i've been looking for a replacement. i tried a brand offered at the same place i've always purchased, but i found it faded really quickly - about 3 weeks - and as i use red, i've gotten use to a product that doesn't do that anymore. as i wasn't really certain what brand to try next i asked my sdm cosmetician about the ice cream brand and she said they sold a lot of it.
the big draw back was that the colour samples, attached to the shelf, and not in a book as i've become used to, were under a very strong direct light so it was really hard to tell what colour you might actually get from the dye. also because there wasn't a colour chart available, there was some guessing to be done in the store. although i'd wanted to go a slightly lighter red, i opted for a medium colour in the '5' range, in part because they were a bit low on stock because the product was on offer that week.
i read the instructions and when i went to pierce the tube this dark liquid came out and made a bit of a mess in my bathroom. i'm guessing that this tube sat on the shelf for a bit and if i'd known i'd have squished it up a bit. at any rate after a bit of a clean up, i continued on.
overall the colour has been good, although it's only been a couple of days. the dye isn't so harsh and my usual habit of using a deep conditioning spray for a couple of days has worked well. we'll see how long the colour holds but if it's successful i'll be impressed that i can get something decent at the local shoppers.

Overall this moisturizer, provided at no cost by ChickAdvisor for sampling, held it's own against competitive brands. I'm not entirely certain what a 'brightening' product is supposed to do, but with in a few days of use my skin felt firmer and contained a sunscreen, which is a must for daytime moisturizer for me. i didn't notice any difference in the surface of my skin or any fading of freckles/age spots, but i don't think anything i can buy on the shelf will actually do that. there wasn't really a scent, a plus in my books. my two criticisms were that the formula is a bit light for my normal skin that tends toward dryness in the winter, and i'd like to have a stronger SPF in the formula. as i'm looking for a new spf facial lotion for daytime this is a contender. -

it took some time but the Garnier box finally showed up. thanks to Chickadvisor for the little gift in the package as well at the free products to try. to make a long story short, I find the entire experience of a product of interest, I look at the pricing, the packaging and the parent company as well as the product itself. after a little digging i determine that L'Oreal owns Garnier, so i do use a lot of their brands already, and when you're shopping on a budget and like a high or mid level product it's always interesting to see what comes down the line to the low priced lines.
i'm not new to micellar water. but i also don't use it to remove make up as i like to get water involved when i take off my make up. the bottle is 400ml's which was twice the size of the similar Nivea product i had on the shelf, so if they're selling for the a similar price, this is the better buy. the product worked in a similar way to all the other products i've tried and i'm not seeing any radical differences after a few uses. so if they're all doing the same thing, i guess you buy based on price and company preference so the 400 ml bottle is a good choice. my only real objection is the design of the bottle - every time i handle it my hands seem to get wet. somehow, even though the spout is designed to slowly release the product, it leaks, so a redesign might be in order.

I've reached that age where my lip colour, be it gloss or lipstick, bleeds. i've tried a few things and they work with varying degrees and I don't love lip liner, as no matter how hard i try to find one that matches my natural lip colour, because i prefer gloss you can see it and i don't like this look. So i was pleasantly surprised to find that this seems to work fairly well. I tested it on a long day and using a lipgloss i know bleeds and found that the bleeding was much less severe than without it. Certainly a good tool to have in one's kit. -

The great thing about Timbits is that you get a few flavours in the box and not have to make a choice about which donut you want. The bad is that it's really easy to overeat. As a person who feels like i 'shouldn't' eat an entire donut, I will eat 5 or 6 timbits without thought - which works out to about 2 donuts so tehre goes that.
My bit qualm is that they now sell them past their sell by date and you often get stale ones.

A coupon app that usually has offers on food, but also sometimes booze and sometimes household items. Because I generally buy store brands this has limited value to me, but occasionally I will get a dollar or two back on my grocery list. It has the added bonus of being local to Toronto so at least I feel like I'm supporting a local business and employer. -

The reviews of this coupon app were pretty spot on... basically it's not as good as others, and it take a very long time to accumulate enough money to cash out. I've been using the app for over a year and I think I have $8, most of which was done in 2 transactions. They rarely have actual food coupons and it's primarily baby products. Also the offers don't change all that often. Overall I find other points program and coupon apps offer better. -

I have a craving for tater tots about once every few years, and they're basically always the same, a little too salty, a little too oily and consistently the same flavour. So when the craving hits I generally appease it. I'm certain that if I looked at the nutritional information I'd probably never buy these again, so I don't. -

The only thing holding me back a couple of stars, the bar is much sweeter than the other flavours and after them it was quite noticeable. It's probably due to the pomegranate, so it might have been a good idea to temper the sweetness just a little. Side note; while I do eat a bit of chocolate each day, i generally don't eat candy bar or chocolate with anything more than nuts, so overall all the flavours were much sweeter than I'm used to. The other reason I held back a star was the blinkin' dried fruit bits that I have to dig out of my teeth with my tongue.
Overall the Brookside bars were a nice experience and for people who like stuff in their chocolate they offer some alternatives to overly sugary candy bars. Based on the pricing I've seen and the fact that I don't love the dried fruit I'm on certain I'm sold on this product, but it sure was fun to take and afternoon and try them out. And don't worry about leftovers, I'll force myself to finish them.
