It was upon my mother's recommendation that we take a pole dance class with Aradia well over a year ago now. My first reaction was "Dude, there is NO way I am pole dancing with my mother!" She persisted, so I went, simply to appease her. We arrived for our teaser class to be greeted by warm and friendly instructors and a very comfortable studio. I was incredibly out of shape from carrying around a lot of post pregnancy weight and wasn't entirely sure I'd make it through the class. We took the floor work VERY slow and I could definitely feel it! With a lot of encouragement from our instructor Carmelle, I felt very at ease and comfortable in my own skin (for the first time in a long time).
Once my turn came to have a swing on the pole, I was apprehensive, but so excited! There is something so liberating about being able to defy gravity with your own body's strength! It's the closest you can come to flying without actually sprouting wings. I was hooked! I immediately signed up for classes, have been moving up through my levels, and now have a pole in my living room (which I refuse to take down)! My baby weight just fell off! I'm in the best shape I've ever been in my life and I'm having a blast keeping it that way! No more treadmills! I think it's highly unnatural for us pay to monotonously run as though we're hamsters on a wheel. Be expressive, love your body and DANCE!
