I don’t do any preliminary research on notes contained in a fragrance I intend on reviewing so as not to impregnate my brain with any impression that might influence my interpretation of the fragrance. I will admit though seeing the visuals for this fragrance, I know violet makes an appearance in this composition. I also admit I have prior knowledge of this fragrance’s transition from being marketed to women to now being a genderless fragrance but this has no influence on my review. In my days of working at Sephora, I was never fond of this scent but when I saw it on sale for $99.99 CAD at Winners, I knew this was the closest I would get to owning Tom Ford anything and bought it. Since, Black Orchid has moved into regular rotation in my fragrance wardrobe. -

t first, the sillage resembles something of a generic men’s cologne cocktail; citrus, herbaceous, spicy but this bouquet quickly evolves after the top notes volatilize. There is a brief moment maybe of a few seconds, after the top notes dissipate where you get a floral scent like lavender or the like, but not a feminine floral like jasmine. Quickly after, in the heart of the unfolding layers you get rich, chocolaty notes like tonka, vanilla and coffee however, this may be olfactory confusion as the base notes of leather and Oud wood push through. If I were to speculate, based upon the rarity of Oud, I imagine the showcase of Oud in this fragrance to be an accord. If I were to wager a guess to the composition of the Oud accord, it would be a leather accord, the ‘woodiness’ to come from birch and or moss and the smokiness to come from Oak or the like. My interpretation of Oud wood is more ‘incensy’ and not so smoky and leathery. -

This is a pale girls best friend. I love how you can build up the intensity. When applied properly there is no streaking. If I want to look really tan I will layer Vita Librada HD body blur on top. I have this in the vanilla apricot and personally I don't detect any difference between this and the juicy mango scent. My co-worker said it smells like rotting garbage but I do not think that at all I think it smells quite nice... she's crazy. I forego using the mit because it soaks up too much product, I’ve had no problems with streakiness. You gotta use this everyday to maintain that tan. -
BETTER THAN CHIPS! I can go through half a bag to a whole bag of this in one sitting, no problem. My favourite flavours are the Tomatoe Basil and the Caesar. The new Chipotle ones are too spicy!

Before the re launch of this fragrance I always preferred Saint over Sinner and that seems to be the consensus but I prefer the dry down of Sinner. The top notes are clary sage and Mirabelle, heart notes are jasmine, almond blossom and lily-of-the-valley and the base notes are vanilla, cedar, peach and musk. This is very simplistic, universal floral fragrance sure to appease many. I don’t typically wear floral fragrances because they all smell the same to me, I like fragrance that isn’t deriguer, I don’t want to smell like everyone else. This EDP sells for $88 CAD but to me it smells like a cheap celebrity fragrance in luxe packaging, but this is a business model that works for a lot of fragrance houses – sell something that feels luxe but make the juice cheap. I would say the sillage is mild to moderate but for an EDP it doesn’t last long on the skin. Kat Von D played it safe with Saint I and again with the re-launch, it would have been nice if she changed things up a bit, like an ode to the former fragrance but made it more relevant. If you are looking for a powdery floral and don’t’ want to break the bank then this is for you. This was sent to me for review. -

This is a good alternative to the boscia luminizing black mask. I am perplexed at why that one is called luminizing when the effects are quite mattifying but I digress... let's talk more about this one. Whatever you do don't read the ingredient list, it's filled with crap, the second ingredient is alcohol. If you can move beyond the ingredient list, it's an effective mask. You can watch my video about it here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C5coaJKmii8&t=25s -

Why has it taken so long for a product like this to be made available for consumer consumption? It just makes the most sense for reapplying. This product offers amazing protection and is perfect for the beach/swimming. The packaging claims to offer water resistant protection for 40 minutes but this is subjective. Make sure you avoid the eyes. I forgot to shield my eyes during application and got in my eyes. Needless to say it burned so bad despite the label saying it’s non-irritating! Also, avoid spraying it in your hair unless you want UV protection in your hair too.The product doesn’t smell of SPF but rather of something fresh and herbal, Rosemary, Peppermint and Spearmint. This product is also cruelty and allergen free! It’s available in a travel size which is perfect for touch ups throughout the day. -

I'll admit, the packaging got me. I have been lusting after these palettes since they first launched in Sephora but I could never afford them, now I own 2! There are alot of consumer complaints about the old formulation of these eyeshadows but they aren't as bad as people made it out to be. MAC eyeshadows are way worse! They aren't buttery or as pigmented as let's say ABH eyeshadows that are made with Mica but they still work! I also like the versatility of these palettes, it takes the guess work out of executing a look and the streamlined packaging makes it perfect for travel or just overall storage; MJ doesn't do clunky cardboard boxes. If you are reading this and didn't know, the inspiration for the packaging comes the rearview mirror of an automobile. I also learned the formula is paraben free which makes me happy. -
