I’m always indecisive when it comes to purchasing a new razor; especially one I haven’t used before. Do I really need it? What are the chances it will work any better than the last one I bought? Can I keep making due with my old razor/disposables?
Fortunately for me, I decided to take a chance and try out the new Venus Platinum razor, and Its pretty safe to say I’m sold!
First of all, for $15 you get the razor itsself, and two 5 blade refills, so the price in itsself is fantastic. If you aren’t a fan of the 5 blades, the Platinum base is compatible with almost all the other Venus blades (but seriously, try the 5 blade!).
At first glance, I thought that having a metal handle was a weird benefit to push, and didn’t think that it would have any hand in improving the shave at all. However, once I held it I realized there was a considerable amount more weight to it than the regular razor handle, and I found that it helped big time to give a more precise, smooth shave being more weighted. The blade was fantastic, and provided me with probably the closest shave I have ever had, I was extremely impressed. The blades also have their own “lather” when wet, although I chose to use shaving cream as well as I have very sensitive skin.
All in all I am extremely impressed with this product! The quality is amazing, and it gave me a smooth shave that resulted in zero nicks and no razor burn even with my sensitive skin. I even managed to go an extra day without shaving because the shave was SO smooth!!    -
