I remember this foundation.. I think I bought it around two years ago, but I can remember it quite well, and I've seen other people wearing it since. I shouldn't think it would be that easy to apply with a brush, my favourite way of applying foundation - it's more or less designed to be applied using the fingers. And I have noticed, on myself and other people, that this leaves a really cakey finish. It really cakes over imperfections like acne, and especially around the nose area. The colour wasn't that great for me: I bought the lightest possible, and it was still quite orange. I'm not sure if they've changed the colours since I bought it, but that was how it looked on me - I didn't like it at all. I remember that it made my face look very oily - but that may have just been my skin type. Other people I have seen wearing it since have had a matte complexion, but it still looks very dry and cakey. My family also said that it looked pretty bad on my skin. Definitely won't be buying this again, though there is a certain allure about it. -

I'm not too sure about this foundation. I bought it today, and I applied it onto a base of foundation several hours old. One thing I'm not too keen on is that it was quite sticky after I applied it, despite the fact it went on pretty smoothly (I use a foundation brush). It had reasonable coverage, it didn't conceal absolutely everything but I'd expect that. The price was great, too - I went in thinking I'd be spending at least in the region of around £10, but it was a nice surprise to find it was around £5 - I'm not sure what it would be in the USA. As for the 'satin finish' claim.. well, I don't think it had the satin finish effect. It gave my skin a more matte look, and I could tell - I left half of my face wearing only my normal foundation, and the Maybelline half had little to no shine compared to the other half.
Anyhow, it dried to leave a very powdery finish, and I was unsure whether to apply setting powder or not, because if my skin is dry, appling powder usually really sucks all the moisture out my skin. I couldn't deal with the slightly sticky feel though, so I gave in. However even with the powder on, if I press my hand against my cheek, it's still pretty sticky. It really clung to dry areas of my face as well: for imperfections such as dried-out pimples, I'd suggest this foundation isn't great to be using on them.
I think it only really lives up to its high appeal should you have skin in relatively good condition; as other reviewers say, it gives you really light coverage, but it's more matte than you would expect. I was also pretty confused by the colour range in the store, but I chose Ivory, because I have fair skin. I think the colours vary in amount of yellow/pink tones, but other stores are probably more helpful than mine.
However, it'll probably do for me, until I buy my regular foundation. It's not terrible, but I'm not sure if I'm as attatched to it as my other one.

I love, love, love this foundation. I've tried all the drugstore foundations out there, and they really didn't meet a great standard. So this was my first real 'high-end' foundation. Firstly I did my homework by reading plenty of reviews about it before deciding to buy it (initially it was around £22 in the UK, but I bought it for £18 in the January sales, now it's around £19). Now, I really cannot wait until I get home after I buy any foundation. I put it on over my current base of foundation - and instantly I noticed how smooth it made my face feel. It has a slight scent to it, I can't really describe it, but I don't think I could degrade it for that reason, because it doesn't smell once you have applied it. I think the application goes on incredibly well with the fingers, it's probably actually necessary to use your fingers even with using a sponge or brush, because once you blend it in, it really lives up to the reviews about it. I apply it with a foundation brush, and pat it with a finger to allow it to blend into the skin easily. Honestly, on normal skin it doesn't look like you're wearing foundation, you just look flawless. It's fantastic that it provides an SPF, but living in England, I have to say I didn't really need it, but it will definitely come in handy once I move to New Zealand. The colour range is fantastic - I have pale skin and I bought the lightest possible shade, and thought it would be extremely dark, but really, it blends in amazingly well. It could be better with a shade lighter (I'm not sure what happened to shade 01). The packaging is great, and I find that when I have been carrying it around in my makeup bag all day, it leaves just enough foundation in the lid for touch-ups. It doesn't last an incredibly long time, but it really does give a great finish. As for the 'dewy look' claim, I'm not sure - it certainly made me look quite shiny; I have combination skin, but it turned quite matte under translucent powder. However when I tried it on my friend, who has normal skin and practically no visible pores, it looked fantastic. My only gripe is that it is aimed at women with dry skin. Whenever I have dry skin, this foundation tends to make dry areas look quite flaky, and well, basically dries them up more. My skin is a lot less oily than it was, because I have started taking acne medication - before I started, it really made me break out. This inclines me to suggest that you should only buy this foundation if you have normal skin - I also advise moisturising first before applying the foundation. -

I wasn't too impressed with this foundation. The fact that it advertises its mineral formula made it sound quite appealing, and the fact that I didn't have a great complexion at the time persuaded me to buy it - I was told that mineral formulas are beneficial for your skin. Almost a minute or two after I bought it, I applied it using my fingers onto the foundation I was already wearing. I found that it was quite grainy and had an unnatural yellow hue against my skin - even on top of a previous foundation base. When I applied it by itself the next day, it didn't improve. My family commented that it didn't suit my natural skin tone - and I'd chosen the one that fit into my skin tone best (I bought Light Ivory, fyi). The range of colours is great, but none of them suited me. Like most L'Oreal products, I found it was quite expensive compared to other brands available in British drugstores, e.g. Rimmel London, Maybelline, Bourjois etc. However it did do a reasonable job of coverage despite the graininess and awkward pigment, so the price is reasonable compared to the Chanel Dewy Smooth foundation which I currently use (5/5 rating for that, it's fantastic - and I bought it while it was cheap in the January sales). The packaging was quite attractive and neat, and I think it contained a lot more foundation than I first imagined. But overall, I don't think I'll be trying this foundation again. -
