Great Book

I LOVED this book!!! Full of romantic tension throughout, with an intense romance ending and a light cliff hanger. I was very pleased that this book was enough to satisfy me and that I didn't HAVE to read the following books! The next book gets a whole lot darker (like 50 Shades of Gray darker) so I decided to make up Derek and Sofia's future up myself, but they definitely solidify a relationship in this book and I was beaming by the end at the incredible kiss.

Pros:
1) A really intimidating all powerful vampire falling in love and being kind to at least one human being
2) Sexual tension and romance throughout the book
3) A sizzling kiss at the end (finally!)
4) Book has a satisfying ending enough to not have to continue the next books in order to fully enjoy this one.

Cons:
1) This first book is a little intense, with a few scenes of not-too-descriptive sexual abuse. These vampires think of attractive human girls as property and use them for selfish desires. There are also humans described as being treated, well, inhumanely and in horrible conditions.
2) Cliff hanger about wither Sofia and Derek will stay together in the next book, but this book makes you think that she will stay together with the pretty awesome kiss.
3) The next book gets "S&M;bad" almost. I personally could only read the first 10 chapters before I put it down. I could definitely read this book again though, just won't be continuing, sad.

Bottom line: Great romance, a love that seems to build constantly, some uncomfortable parts I had to skim through, and an exciting book with some twists!
