You can also tell the speaker to connect to a larger speaker if you prefer your own home sound equipment. The kids edition is the same, but with some added bonuses. First bonuses is the echo comes with a protective case and 2 years of worry free protection. It also comes with a year of freetime! this is an app that lets kids access tons and tons of kids content. Content like kids music, games and stories. My kids love asking alexa to read them a book at night. And all is child appropriate content. You can manage all content and controls from an alexa app on your phone or computer and also see all alexa history. My other favorite feature is the "drop in" You can ask your alexa to "drop in" on your childs room to hear what theyre doing or talk to them. You can also send voice messages to their alexa device! This has been a great buy that will grow with our kids. alexa can even help with homework!
