Pretty decent tablet
The Amazon Fire 7 tablet is a good choice for kids to be able to play some games and watch their shows. I dropped it a star however because I have a few problems with it. This tablet has low memory and no matter the SD card, it's loaded up with a bunch of junk that makes it near impossible to download more games. As it is an Amazon, instead of an android, you don't have access to the google playstore or the original Youtube app, I have problems with both of that. However the price point is excellent if this is being bought for a child to play on, and they have screen protectors/tablet cases that are extremely sturdy in a child's hands. The settings are also great for children, as parents can completely control what the child sees and how long they are on the tablet. So make sure to thoroughly check out what you're looking for to see if this is the best one for you.
A Must Have
I’ve had a Kindle for many years. After having children my Kindle started getting taken over with their apps and games. I am so happy Kindle made an affordable, yet affective device. I love the the kindle free time app for children. You can even let them safely search for items and set webpages for them. Every one of my kids has their own device. And when I even get older, you can still use the device in regular mode
Excellent
My childrens grand mother bought it for them, they love this product. I would recommend for anyone with loud children that dont like to sit still, great way for them to sit still
Kindle Fire 7
I bought one of these for my daughter for her birthday in September and it's already broken. It's a great little tablet for kids but it's not very durable and it breaks very easily. Also there isn't much space on it.
Cheaply made
So my 3 kiddos are not wild and destructive, but we still made sure to buy the foam protected cases and give them these amazon fires for Christmas. Within 2 weeks, my daughter dropped hers and shattered the screen. A few days later my son dropped his, on carpet, and it shattered. I was shocked, they are small kids, but 7&9;.. so these weren’t far drops and weren’t on hard surface. I was offered a replacement but I refused and got my cash back.
Good tablet
It is a great tablet for kids but it's overpriced. The "extra" content doesn't justify the price tag. I would recommend just buying a normal fire 7 and downloading kid friendly apps.
Save your money and buy the standard version
The Kindle Fire is a great kid's tablet, but the special kid's edition is overpriced. It costs twice as much as the standard Kindle Fire 7 tablet and the additional "content" that comes with it doesn't justify the price hike.
-Foam case: The case included with the Kids Edition is just a cheap foam case that the tablet easily pops out of if dropped. And if your child is at all sensory seeking they may bite right through the case.
-Freetime Unlimited: The content included in Freetime Unlimited isn't great. I suppose for some kids it may be worth it, but my kids prefer the content we've already purchased so for me it wasn't worth it. Also, it auto renews at the full price without so much has a notification e-mail and it can be a pain to cancel.
-2-year warranty: The warranty is the best thing about the Kids Edition, but even that doesn't really justify the price. My son is really rough on his tablets, and he has not yet managed to break one during the warranty period.
The most kid-friendly tablet available!
The Amazon Kindle 7 for kids is the most friendly tablet on the market for children! I love how it recommends shows based upon the parents input and the child preferences. I also like how I can create filters and remove content that I may not like. Had a great battery life and extremely durable for children.
It's been a year now and our tablet is holding up perfectly between a 4yr old and almost 2yr old. I truly love how I can create separate profiles for each child.
Such an awesome buy, I have two!
We bought our now five year a fire tablet about a year and a half ago, and he absolutely loves it! It has been such an amazing investment and blessing in our lives, that we recently bought a second tablet for our daughter. Both my kids are autistic and are often hard to travel, or to get anything done with. Thanks to their fire tablets, my kids are perfectly content to sit and play educational games while I get house work done, take road trips, visit the doctor, sit thru an IEP meeting, or even navigate the grocery store. Gone are the days of the unavoidable autism meltdowns. Our lives are so much easier because of my kids' tablets.
Amazon's free time program is the best parent helper in the world! You can fully customize your child's tablet to their age, and add and block anything you would like. I don't have to worry about what my kids are seeing it watching, because I have gone thru every single program, app, book, and video available, and blocked everything that I am not comfortable with them having access to. You can also set time restrictions if you need to.
The tablets also come with a kid proof case, as well as Amazon's amazing warranty! Each time my son has broken his screen, as well as when his tablets battery died, Amazon immediately sent us a replacement tablet, and a return label to send the broken tablet back. And each time they've sent us a new charger and told me to keep the old one. I couldn't be any happier with my purchases!
