Cheaply made

So my 3 kiddos are not wild and destructive, but we still made sure to buy the foam protected cases and give them these amazon fires for Christmas. Within 2 weeks, my daughter dropped hers and shattered the screen. A few days later my son dropped his, on carpet, and it shattered. I was shocked, they are small kids, but 7&9;.. so these weren’t far drops and weren’t on hard surface. I was offered a replacement but I refused and got my cash back.

Save your money and buy the standard version

The Kindle Fire is a great kid's tablet, but the special kid's edition is overpriced. It costs twice as much as the standard Kindle Fire 7 tablet and the additional "content" that comes with it doesn't justify the price hike.
-Foam case: The case included with the Kids Edition is just a cheap foam case that the tablet easily pops out of if dropped. And if your child is at all sensory seeking they may bite right through the case.
-Freetime Unlimited: The content included in Freetime Unlimited isn't great. I suppose for some kids it may be worth it, but my kids prefer the content we've already purchased so for me it wasn't worth it. Also, it auto renews at the full price without so much has a notification e-mail and it can be a pain to cancel.
-2-year warranty: The warranty is the best thing about the Kids Edition, but even that doesn't really justify the price. My son is really rough on his tablets, and he has not yet managed to break one during the warranty period.

Good price but headphone jack doesn’t work

My 7 year old got a kindle fire 7 kids edition for Christmas last year. At first it worked great, but within 6 months, it stopped charging. We were able to send it back to Amazon without any hassle and they sent us a new Tablet. The benefits of the table are the free games, tv shows, books, etc. that children get free for 2 years. Also, the foam case makes it hard for the tablets to brake. However, the original tablet and the second one sent under warranty both have faulty head phone jacks. I bought the tablet so my daughter could be entertained on a flight from Nebraska to Florida. We tried multiple head phones and non worked. There was no time to send it back after christmas before our flight, so she had to go on the plain with my phone to watch. That is the only disappointing thing about this product.
