This works, but I much prefer the Kat Von D shade and light palette. I find the Kat von d palette is much higher quality and the colours suit my skin tone so much better.
The best contour kit I have used. I spend lots of money of make up and have tried several contour techniques and this by far is the best kit. It comes with 6 different shades which can be used all year round. It applies beautifully and stays on all day. LOVE IT!
I finally got my hands on this product ! It is always sold out and now i know why! One of the best makeup investments i have made in a while ! This contour kit has beautiful colors that take contouring to the next level . The quality is obvious with just one use !
AMAZING CONTOUR PALETTE!!! A must have! So buttery satin smooth blendable matte colours and long lasting! My clients and models love it!!! There is a reason why it SOLD OUT so quickly at Sephora!!! Check it out on my work: www.irenesy.com and www.colourations.ca
Let's begin with pricing, I always saw this on instagram and didn't invest simply because as a beginning makeup junkie and someone whose still practicing with contouring I couldn't explain spending around 60$ at sephora for one kit which I'm just learning how to use properly.
Nonetheless, I received it as a birthday gift. The size of the contouring colours is smaller than I expected, but may I say, it makes ALL the difference in contouring. I went from trying to contour with liquid makeup and bronzers to simple using this to contour, highlight and add bronze tones to my face. Very simple, very easy all in one pallet.
This kit is really nice, although I find with all the slightly different contour shades it can be a little overwhelming and too much for the beginner. The Smashbox contour kit would be much more suitable.
The kit contains 6 shades, 3 of which are meant to contour and add warmth, 3 to highlight and brighten. From left to right, the colours are Vanilla, Banana, Sand, Java, Fawn and Havanna.
Where to place these colours/My thoughts :
Vanilla and Banana are perfect shades to highlight under your eyes. I was surprised to see that although the shades appear to be quite pink/yellow, it neutralizes dark circles and doesn't leave a hint of yellow or pink pigment on your skin.
Sand.
If there are any beauty products that I get too often/like to splurge on, it's definitely on illuminators. I can't even compare it to any highlighter I own, it adds the perfect amount of luminance and effervescence to your face. A little bit of this on your cheekbones, browbones and down the bridge of your nose adds the most stunning, healthy glow.
Java and Fawn:
Since the undertones of these shades are cooler, they're perfect for sculpting your face to add a natural shadow for your contour. Do I need to explain where to put these shades? The great Kim K has taught us where it goes.
Havanna: Although this colour is also great to contour with, I typically use it to add warmth to the skin. The wonderful thing about all three contour shades is that they can be mixed together to sculpt and achieve a bronzed look.
The holy grail of all contour and highlighting...Well kind of. This product has been sold out almost everywhere for the longest time and of course Canada wasn't getting the stock. I finally found this product at Sephora just a month ago. I know finally after I think a year or two Canada finally got the product in stock. Of course there is a lot of hype and talk regarding this product. Many makeup Guru's speak about it as well.
I would say I really like this product. It is a small sleek, palette with six shades. Three shades are for highlighting and three for contouring. All the six colours are blendable. The darker shades are ideal for shading and defining and the lighter shades could be used to highlight under the eyes and cheekbones.
The shades on my skin don't obviously match completely so I do have to mix the colours up and find the perfect shades for me. These colours can be used on any skintone because you are able to mix and blend the colours up. The quality is very nice and rich. This product is a powder not liquid colours so just giving a heads up. You would want to make sure you have proper brushes to apply the products on your face because you obviously can't use your fingers to contour and highlight with powder products. The best brush to use with this product if you are beginner to be a fluffy angled contour blush. Sigma Beauty and Sephra do have some good ones. For the highlighting, any small fluffy or an highlighting brush will be prefect.
What I recommend to everyone who purchases the product test and play around with the colours to figure out which colours match and suit you. This is because you don't want to randomly apply the product on your face and you walk around thinking it matches you lol. It may have happened to me. Also the palette doesn't come with instructions so you would want to practice a bit.
I paid around $50 for the product again I live in Vancouver and of course everything is expensive and double to price for us.
