This is a really well written post-apocalyptic YA novel. The main character goes on an adventure to find his parents after a volcano erupts and covers his town and the surrounding state area with inches, and the feet, of ash and soot, and blocks out the sun. It's a refreshing take on an apocalyptic novel because there are no zombies running around and it's something that is semi-realistic. Despite it being a YA novel, it is quite good and I enjoyed it as an adult.
