Great for every day…unless makeup is involved.

Winter demands sunscreen just like summer, often forgotten or neglected as we wait longingly for the sun to shine upon us.

Winter also demands moisture, in higher than normal quantities.

Aveeno has the solution with its Calm + Restore Daily Moisturizer with 30 SPF.

This 100% UVA/UVB mineral sunscreen is great for sensitive skin and says it blends into all skin tones.

I was sent this moisturize and SPF beauty free from Butterly to give it a try, and try I have!

Admittedly, I was a little surprised when I squeezed it out to find it a light pink/peach tone, thinking perhaps I have misread and it was also tinted. Nope that wasn’t the case at all, and then I thought well this isn’t going to go well, I’m so pale it’s gonna look weird but after applying I was pleasantly surprised that it did blend right in! I watched the peach tone turn to a whiter one and then just blend right into my skin.

So you really only need that pea sized amount to cover your face and neck, I tried less and more, and found the pea size to be the perfect amount. I like it overall, found it did moisturize well, blended into the skin well and wore well when on its own. Given that I have sensitive and allergic skin I wasn’t sure how my skin would react despite the formula being made for sensitive skin, you never know until you try it and for me, no issues which was a great relief.

On the days when I wore makeup, well I’d say my makeup didn’t like the moisturizer so much, they didn’t play nicely together. Some areas of my face were ok but in general, my foundation ended up clumping in some spots or my skin looked drier in others, and around my eyes my makeup crept into my fine lines more. Now I never run into this normally with my skincare routine and this seemed to be repeated each day I applied the moisturizer and my makeup. So that was a bit of a disappointment really.

Overall, this is a comfortable moisturizer, effective and great to reduce a step and ensure I have my SPF as well when I’m going makeup free, so perfect around the house for everyday. It just doesn’t work for me, with my makeup. On days when I wear makeup I will need to go with another option. I’d also love to see this available in a 50 SPF.

I would still highly recommend you give it a try for your everyday.

Lightweight and not greasy

I received Aveeno Calm+Restore for free in exchange for my honest review. I feels light and does not have a strong fragrance. I would consider buying it in the future if I found out that it was cruelty-free. It is not indicated on the bottle nor online.

Aveeno Calm & Restore Moisturizer

I love that it goes on very easily. However, I do find that it is very light in colour and makes me look extremely pale. After a while I felt my skin was feeling "tight".

Made my skin dry!

I found this product to be very similar to a foundation texture and I was able to rub it off my skin after I applied it. It also did not moisturizer my face it actually made it feel quite dry and sticky. I do however love that it has SPF in it as it’s good to be using this daily to protect your skin. No fragrance and very light weight. I also love the tint that it has which blends into your skin fast and I’d say it matches all lighter skin tones. Unfortunately it just isn’t for me though.

Not the best fit for my skin

I was really hoping to love this product. Daily moisturizer marketed as lightweight with SPF? Sign me up! But unfortunately this wasn’t the best fit for my combo skin. I had a few issues with this moisturizer: although it felt lightweight on my fingers, as soon as I rubbed it in it started to feel thicker (like a true sunscreen feel), this also had a noticeable white cast even on my pale skin, and it didn’t play well under my foundation. Some positives: it doesn’t have any fragrance which I appreciate. I think this would be better suited for those with drier skin. I will use it up this winter but I would not purchase a replacement.

Heavy & Oily

Not a big fan of this one. It claims to be a tinted moisturizer that blends into all skin tones, but I find that hard to believe! It took a while before it blended into my skin, and when it did, it left a white cast on my skin and made me feel like I had oil all over it. I've tried other products from their Calm & Restore line and I love them - but this product isn't it!

Unsure

The first few times thatI used this product I found it on the heavier side, it also left my face red and hot . It did moisture to my skin and after a few applications it no longer left my face red or hot. I did not noticed any changes to my skins tone.

Not so good

Aveeno has had some wonderful products for my sensitive skin but it didn't hit the mark for me. Although it has SPF 30 and 100% minerals, it pilled up on my skin and left me feeling sticky. Sorry Aveeno

Not bad

I enjoyed testing out this product. The only thing I did not love about this is the scent. I usually am one who enjoys nicely scented face products but I was not a fan of this one. Other than that one little issue I had with this product, I does everything as advertised. It smoothed my skin, leaves my skin looking fresh and healthy. I like that it has a small tint that really does blend into the skin so beautifully. I think I would still recommend this product as it is a great daily moisturizer and bonus…the spf! I would consider repurchasing this product as well if I can get past the scent.
