Not a fan
I received this item for free in exchange for my honest review. I won't be buying this one again. I feel like I needed to use a lot to get good coverage on my face. Also this product has a light tint to it almost like makeup and it did not blend well into my face and made me look incredibly pale.
Sticky, difficult to apply and too tinted
Aveeno has been one of my favorite brands for about 5 years now. From adults and kids wash and shampoo, moisturizer to cleansers etc, everything has been working great for me and my family so far and I've been very lucky to be selected so many times to try out new products.
A few months back, I had been selected to receive two of their calm and restore products which I absolutely loved and still use to this day. This time, I've been selected to try out a new calm and restore product : the calm and restore daily moisturizer that includes a uva/uvb protection.
I really wanted to love this one too but it simply didn't work for me at all. First, the texture is very very different from what I'm used to from all the Aveeno products I've tried/use. It's very thick and the cream is clearly tinted. I don't specifically have a pale or dark skin, I'm pretty average, but this cream immediately made my skin look a lot paler than it actually is. It actually looked exactly like applying sunscreen. Except this product is primarily advertised as a daily moisturizer and shouldn't make the skin paler.
Second, it's very hard to apply. It sticks to the skin right away and overall, it was just difficult to rub it in. I thought the stickiness would pass and I even waited longer than normal before applying make-up but the stickiness didn't improve. I had a hard time putting on make up after this and it's not what I'm looking for in a moisturizer.
I used a cleanser about 12 hours after applying this moisturizer and removing it was also difficult. It felt like having a sticky mask on and it took quite a bit of scrubbing to feel fresh and clean.
I think this product should be more advertised as a sunscreen than a moisturizer. It felt the exact same. Being in Nova Scotia, I can not review it on the sunscreen part since it's dead winter and the sunny days are definitely not here yet.
This cream wasn't for me but I'm still very glad I had the chance to give it a try. Thank you Aveeno and butterly ! I will keep enjoying the Aveeno products I've been using so far and can't wait to try out more.
Left a white cast
While I do like a good multifunctional skincare product in my routine as it helps me save some time (especially during my AM routine), this just wasn't for me.
I liked the texture as it was light weight and had no fragrance, quite moisturizing and soothing but blending it to suit my skin colour tone didn't go well as it left a slight white cast in my skin. It maybe more suitable for use on light skin tones.
Calm and Restore is a No from Me
I'm really into skincare, and have been in the beauty industry for 20 years. As I've gotten older the importance of proper skincare (hydration, protection) becomes more and more a priority.
I was excited to try this because it combines two products into one with the sun protection and moisturizer.
Unfortunately, I was disappointed. It does have a somewhat "lightweight" texture however I found it VERY sticky and the white cast from the SPF was still visible after it had absorbed into my skin.
No change to skin
Typically I love Aveeno products however this one was a different story. I found the formula difficult to blend into my skin leaving it white no matter how little product I used. My skin felt sticky once applied and did not have added moisture.
I was really unimpressed
I have used this brand and similar products before and I was so so excited to try this but then I was just left really unimpressed.
It ended up after drying on my face and just a layer on top stayed no absorption into my skin if I then touched my face the cream would flake off I tried it two more times with the same result. Don’t even bother putting on make up if you try this product cause it will just flake and make foundation absolutely impossible. Dang it you guys I’m really disappointed I wanted to love this so bad but it’s a heck no for me
Aveeno calm & restore
I received this as a sample to try... I decided to try it on my son (put a tiny dab on his hand, he got a instant rash), it did not work well. Tried it on my face & instantly broke out in a rash, so I will not be using it.
Feels like Suncreen
I tried the aveeno calm + restore on my face. I found it too thick and not easily rubbed in. I then had a sneeze attack until I washed it off. I was disappointed as I really like the regular aveeno daily moisterizer.
Doesn’t work with my skin tone
I was excited to try this Aveeno moisturiser. I love face creams to have spf so thought Aveeno would work well on my skin. My skin isn’t particularly sensitive but as I’m getting older I like to look after my skin. On first using I noticed the cream has a waxy texture and didn’t spread on my face easily. Then I noticed that as it’s tinted and I have black skin which looked chalky and grey after application. Even with black skin I use sunscreen religiously in the summer months and certain brands I’ve used give the same chalky results. As a result I won’t be continuing to use this particular Aveeno product
Chalky
I was super excited to try this as I've been looking for the right face moisturizer with spf. I was disappointed when I used it as i find it chalky and doesn't go on smooth like a moisturizer. I also found it puts a tint of fairness to the face where it makes me look pale.
