I use it on my face all winter long. Gives me a nice glow without drying out my skin or having an overpowering scent. Helps keep the dark circles covered up without a buildup of makeup!
I was always nervous to try a self-tanner, fearing I would get an orange, streaky, uneven tan like many horror stories I've read. But, I decided to get my feet wet with Maybelline Tinted Self Tanner. This lotion worked well, but it didn't give me a dark enough color, and it was also shimmery, which is good for going out at night, but not as much for everyday wearing. That's when I decided to try Banana Boat's Summer Color Self-Tanning Lotion in Deep Dark Color. It doesn't have a shimmer to it, so you can use it at any time. After showering and exfoliating (make sure to do so first) I decided to test it on my legs. You have to really make sure to rub in it - the lotion is tinted brown, so you are able to see where you have already applied it. It begins to dry fairly quickly, so make sure you don't see any darker areas or any lotion that isn't rubbed in all the way. I did both of my legs, and after making sure it all looked even, I sat around until I was sure it was dry. As I said, it dries pretty quickly, and you will see some initial color, however as the bottle states, you won't see the full color develop until 2-3 hours later - which is definitely true. As the day went on, I noticed the tan got even darker. I was just testing it, so I didn't apply a second coat, but this weekend, I plan to do 2 coats (the bottle suggests to wait 3 hours before applying a second application). All in all, this lotion gave me a great color, and for $6.74 for a 6 oz. bottle, I think it is a great deal (especially compared to some of the others on the shelves). I definitely recommend this to anyone looking to maintain a summer tan all year long!
