This stuff gives good coverage but if you're a face toucher, this will definitely rub off throughout the day as any other powder would; I also find my nose and forehead look oily after a couple hours, but if you have the mineral veil it works great!
I've used this in the past. It's a great product. It definitely works for oily skin. I especially love the mineral veil. I can't leave home without.
I absolutley adore my Bare Minerals foundation. Last year I originally bought the starter set at Sephora but looovveed it so much I've been back since to buy them individually. My ideal color is 'Medium Tan' it goes on flawlessly and looks extremely natural!
Big fan of bare esenctials' foundation products. former heavy m.a.c. studio f/x user that used to cover and proliferate my blemishes for years. exposed myself to the world and withdrew from my foundation addiction...now only use bare esenctials to grace my clear skin...it's able to cover minor/major blemishes (not to hd-movie perfection, but close enough)
The first time I tried it, I probably made the mistake of using WAY too much. You really do need that Kabuki brush by the way. No joke.. but I bought the Bourjois kabuki brush rather than the BE one. A bronzer brush works too. :) It has the same dense bristles.
Anyway, the first time I tried it, I dipped too much into the brush and when I first brushed it on, it looked WAY too shiny, WAY too caked on and awful. I almost cried, remembering how much I paid for it.
Then I read on how to actually put it on, and all you need is to LIGHTLY tap your brush into it, then use the underside of the lid to do a swirling motion, tap out the excess powder, then do a light buff all over your face, THEN go back to the spots you think need more attention. This way, the powder gets evenly applied to your entire face, and then you do the spot checks.
Caution: this will NOT cover ALL of your blemishes, your dark spots or problem spots. It will minimize them, try and give them a nice sheen of a cover, but it will NOT completely cover it, and make you look poreless. You don't want this poreless look anyway, because then it looks really contrived, fake, and not like its your own skin, but a mask.... Eww. :) What you want, is your own skin, with all of its imperfections MINIMIZED (not completely covered)...
Also, if you use too much, you'll look like an orange alien. Just sayin'.
I also do the Mineral Veil over this BE powder, and on its own, it doesn't last all day and keep the shine away (I'd have to wear a primer like the one from Smashbox for that, but I'm too lazy / cheap) but it works to kind of soft focus your face, and make it less shiny, less pore-like.
Highly recommended, but make sure you pick the right skintone for yourself...
I have tried everything for my combination skin and let me tell you: Bare Minerals is the BEST!
What I love about mineral make-up in general, is that it is light and doesn't leave residue on your face when you wash it. Having acne proned skin, Bare Minerals covers effectively and makes me look glam with minimal effort.
One tip I learned: If you are like me and have oily skin in the summer and dry in the winter, try alternating seasonally between liquid foundation and mineral foundation. When you have dry skin, as I do in the winter, the mineral make-up has nothing to adhear to and it tends to slip off your face giving you the dreaded washed-out look. It is during those times I switch to a good liguid foundation like Studio Works (Ulta's house brand).
Although it seems pricey, Bare Minerals go a long way. You don't need to do much, just swirl, tap and buff it on. It gives you a natural glow and your skin feels healthier, like it can breathe!
I recommend purchasing a starter or specialty kit rather than individual make-up pots because you save more in the longrun. I also want to warn:
I have tried several "mineral make-ups" and in my opinion nothing works as well as Bare Minerals. Don't waste your money trying to find a cheaper brand...or you'll end up wasting more than if you just bought Bare Minerals in the first place!
Great makeup, hard to use since it comes in small containers that you have to shake out the loose powder, gets messy.
It's a fun, easy way to apply your foundation. Coverage is great and can also be used as a concealer.
A revolutionary new type of makeup, completely organic and hypoallergenic, looks great and lasts all day!
