Steeped In tradition.

My Italian neighbor brings my family and I one of these classic Italian cakes every year for Christmas. They come in a beautiful box and the cake is wrapped in cellophane. The box includes icing sugar to sprinkle on the cake but I never use it.

This cake has a texture that's in between cake and bread which makes it quite unique. The flavor I would say is a light vanilla taste. It's not overly sweet at all and it pairs nicely with a cup of coffee.

Since it's a 1 lb cake and I am the only one in my household that likes it I ended up giving half to my mother. This would be perfect for those with a big family or someone that is having a large gathering of people. If you like a simple tasting cake this is for you. Personally I prefer cakes that are frosted and a little more sweet.
