While the sponge is on the pricy side, it does do a great job for makeup application. The pointy end is great at getting in all the little corners. The sponge itself lasts a long time, as long as you can keep it clean. Pro-tip: use baby shampoo instead of the cleanser to save $$$
I caved, and bought a beauty blender. I had been using a dupe I picked up at the drugstore for $5, and let me tell you. I thought 'a makeup sponge is a makeup sponge' and 'there's no difference between this and what I already own' but I was so wrong. This thing is magical. It's so easy to use a monkey could do it, and it just works so much better than anything I've tried before. Any foundation or BB creme I use with this just instantly blends in flawlessly, and I look way less patchy. I'm definitely enjoying it, and totally think I got my moneys worth.
I totally was not going to buy into the hype of a beauty blender for it $28 price tag when I could get $5 knock offs that do the exact same thing. However, while cleaning one of these said knock offs it started falling apart. So I bought a different knock off and the same thing happened. I figured I'd buy a beauty blender to see how it held up and I was impressed that it was infact more durable than its dupes. However, it worked the exact same way as my other sponges did, and for twice the price. I've used it both wet and dry and I find it works basically the same either way. It's made maybe a bit better than other sponges but honestly I don't think I'll end up buying another Beauty Blender again. I do love the Beauty Blender Micro Mini's though; now those are something I can't live without
I'm a thrifty girl, but for my birthday I decided to splurge and buy myself one of these sponges. I LOVE IT! I wear BB cream usually, I had been applying it before with a brush that left it streaky - I always finished up by rubbing it in with my fingers! With this sponge, it is flawless. I soak the sponge first and then wring it out. I then put my BB cream on top and apply to my face. It applies very lightly (light coverage) but leaves my skin looking dewy and perfect - no streaks whatsoever. The sponge is quite absorbent, however, and needs to be washed often. I have found that after using this sponge daily for about 6 weeks, it is cracked and ready to be replaced. Would I recommend this sponge if you can afford it? Absolutely! But if you're on a budget (like myself) I would splurge elsewhere, as I was extremely disappointed that this product only lasted 6 weeks - but it was 6 weeks of absolutely flawless skin!
I did enjoy using this sponge, though I found that it tore within a few months and since it is so expensive I hoped it would have lasted longer. I found that it did make my makeup look really good though.
The Real Techniques sponge lasted longer and worked just as well.
Also you can't buy it where I live so I have order it online and have the added expense of shipping.
I find that your makeup stays on top of the sponge and doesn't sink into it- which is great. The price is a little high. I would consider this to be a luxury item. Not everyone can spend the cash- but if you wanted to play around with an airbrush effect this is for you. The problem with brushes is that you can sometimes see streaks and outlines. With this- it helps blend your makeup seamlessly into your skin.
Beauty blenders are amazing. They change the way you apply foundation and have a flawless finish each time you use it. Everyone should have a beauty blender, or at least a dupe of one!
First off, the beauty blender is extremely pricey. Not sure if the knock offs work just as well or not... But the beauty blender works great for applying foundation and blending. I got mine in a set. Not sure I'd pay full price for it! If you haven't tried it and you're curious at least give it a try for yourself. I try to clean it every few times I use it. But realistically it should be cleaned each time... If you're lazy like me then disposable sponges might be better. But a reusable one is better for the environment and apparently better quality.
For a blender it's great! But the price is insane! I personally like to throw out my sponges every couple uses, and I don't find this to be realistic for my budget! But works good!
I admit, I was skeptical but kept seeing the Beauty Blender pop on on MakeUp blogs. I watched a few youtube videos and decided to pay the hefty price of $28 for a makeup sponge. I never use brushes to apply my foundation..just find it takes way too long for me to blend it in. I would just go to the dollar store and buy a bag full of $2 makeup sponges. Not any more. For a year I have been buying the beauty blender and it's completely changed my makeup routine. I LOVE this product --my only regret is not buying it sooner. All you do is wet the sponge and apply your foundation and/or concealer. It's so fast and easy and blends super well. I change sponges about every 2 and a half months. The key here is to wash your sponge after EVERY use. I just run mine under hot water and use cetaphil face wash to clean it. Let it air dry and then your good to go for next time. I have no idea if the $5-6 'knock-off' beauty blenders work just as well as the original..but stay tuned. I bought one to see and will be trying it out once my current one starts breaking down.
