I got this for free to test out from Family Rated Club. First thing I noticed right away was that once taken out of the refrigerator it softens within a few minutes. Easy to cut and spread. I used it to bake cookies I noticed that it made the dough was very crumbly because the fat content is low so I added more of the butter and that made the dough so much better and the cookies came out great. You can't tell that vegan butter was used. I would use this in baking, greasing pans, but not on toast, just has no taste very bland.
decent substitute for butter
I tried this product this weekend. I do notice this stick soften faster than regular butter. I bake cookies and bread with this plant based butter. It tasted and baked like butter. the cost is a bit cheaper than real butter. But I do question the benefit of plant based butter vs real butter. the ingredient did say modified plant based oil, and when I see modified oil, i think transfat right away. I did compare the nutrition value of this with real butter, the transfat content is comparable. I don't see a huge benefit with this product.
Great margarine!
Recently I tried Becel's Plant-based brick, which means it is a plant-based margarine! So, that being said I used the unsalted brick to do some baking and it was a lot easier to measure out the required amount of margarine using a brick than scooping it out of a tub! The brick comes with the expected 1/4, 1/2 and 1 cup markings on the package that you typically see with bricks of butter. One of the benefits to baking with margarine is that the product softens much quicker than butter so I was able to cream the sugar and margarine mix almost right away. I also like that I now have the option to buy the Becel margarine salted or unsalted, which also helps with baking! I will definitely pick up an unsalted brick again to bake with. It works well.

Grâce à #FamilyRatedClub, j'ai reçu en #cadeau la brique Becel à base d'huiles de plantes afin d'en faire l'essai et d'en donner mon appréciation. Sans produits laitiers, on peut l'utiliser d'égale à égale en remplacement du beurre. Bien pratique, puisqu'on peut l'intégrer dans nos recettes en faisant une simple substitution. J'ai donc choisi de l'intégrer dans des recettes de biscuits et de muffins.
Pour la texture et le goût, le résultat obtenu est en tous points comparable au beurre. Ce produit offre en plus l'avantage d'être plus malléable que le beurre. En fait, sa texture solide, mais moins dense, rappelle celle du beurre laissé quelque temps sur le comptoir. Il est de ce fait aussi plus facile à étendre, et ce dès sa sortie du réfrigérateur. On a donc plus besoin d'attendre pour pouvoir l'utiliser. Aussi, je trouve particulièrement intéressant de pouvoir mettre un petit carré de ce beurre végétal dans mon assiette ou sur les aliments, ce que la texture de la margarine ne nous permet pas de faire. Sans agents de conservations, arômes ou colorants artificiels, et à base d'huiles offrant 25% moins de gras saturés, c'est un choix santé sans devoir sacrifier le goût. Je recommande la brique Becel à base d'huile de plantes pour son goût, ses valeurs nutritives, son format pratique, et son prix qui se rapproche de celui du beurre.

Just like butter
I received this to try as part of the Family Rated club. I was actually quite surprised at how similar this was to butter, and how my family members didn't realize there was a difference either. I ended up with the unsalted one which was great as I like to be able to control the salt content in my food. I found that this was pretty similar to the texture of regular butter but was definitely more easy to spread - compared to butter which will chunk or chip off when you try to cut it before letting it warm up a bit. I also had no issue with replacing it in my baking - which turned out as good as if I had used butter! This is something I'd definitely look to buying and using again as the price is similar to that of butter and works just as well!
Great plant based alternative!
I’m always looking for good plant based alternatives and I was so excited to try these! I love the unsalted one because it gets my baking mood going and I decided to make a no bake cherry cheesecake and use the plant based bricks in the crust. It turned out great and everyone loved it and couldn't even tell it was plant based! I also love that it doesn’t get super hard like normal butter, even out of the fridge it was easy to cut up how much I needed without having to leave it out to soften beforehand. I can’t wait to bake even more!

Just like real dairy butter!!!
I was excited to try the Becel plant based butter, I decided to use it in 1 sweet dish (baking) and one savory dish. First I used it in our traditional country baked biscuits. straight from the fridge the Becel plant based butter was firm and blended perfectly into the biscuit ingredients, I did notice that it became soft quite quickly so i refrigerated the dough before cooking. once cooked I presented the biscuits to my family.....they loved it, couldn't tell the difference! biscuits were as light and fluffy as with butter. Next I used the Becel plant based butter to make banana bread. This recipe calls for the butter to be melted, it melted great and blended well. Again I presented the bread to my family and they couldn't tell the difference between real butter and the plant based butter!!! I would highly recommend this product to anyone as a replacement for real dairy butter.

Agréablement surprise
J’ai fait l’essai du Becel unsalted plant-based brick dans un de mes desserts pour remplacer le beurre que je met habituellement, j’ai adoré le fait que dès la sorti du réfrigérateur il est déjà plus maléable, je l’ai fait fondre un peu pour l’incorporer à mes ingrédients et il se travail très facilement. Pour ce qui est du goût je n’ai pas vraiment vu de changement côté goût dans ma recette mais il a vraiment fait l’affaire, je n’hésiterai pas à l’utiliser de nouveau dans d’autres circonstances.
Un incontournable à toutes mes préparations !
Ce beurre végétalien à base de plantes est une belle découverte pour moi, j'ai eu la chance de goûter à sa version non salée, d'abord sous forme de tartinade sur un morceau de pain, aucun gout de margarine, un véritable moment de plaisir. Parfait pour frire mon croc monsieur au fromage matinale, je n'hésiterai pas à l’intégrer dans toutes mes préparations salées aussi bien que sucrées :)

Overall was impressed. I’m not a huge butter user but found the flavour to be great. It was easy to use and cut. Perfect for use in dishes or on toast. Would definitely buy.
