100% OF CHICKS DIG IT
I am having an intense love affair with Benefit cosmetics. I searched the city for this kit and finally had the fortune of finding it at Shoppers Drug Mart just after I had decided to stop looking. It was incredibly worth it! All of the products are great. I will review them here together as well as individually.
High Beam Luminescent Complexion Enhancer: A fantastic sheer pink shimmer cream that highlights beautifully.
Benetint, Rose-Tinted Lip & Cheek Stain (rose): I’ve heard a lot of hype for this product and it’s definitely well warranted. I have to say that I like it better on my lips rather than my cheeks though. On the lips it’s a striking yet natural looking reddish stain. Under a clear gloss it looks absolutely gorgeous. On the cheeks it works well as a pink flush, but I find it’s a little too bright for me. It’s also a little tricky to apply on your cheeks, since it dries very quickly there’s a bit of a trick to the application. When you use a primer under it for your cheeks it makes it a little easier. Overall, it’s a great product.
Dallas, The Outdoor Glow For The Indoor Gal Face Powder: This is a really nice natural looking bronze powder. It works well as a blush too. Just be careful not to apply too much because it’s one of those bronzers that can make your skin look a little muddy if you go overboard.
Lip Gloss in I'm With The Band (golden pink shimmer): This is the only product in the kit that I am not a fan of. It’s a nice colour, but it is very sticky and dries out your lips almost immediately. Not terribly impressed with Benefit Lip Gloss based on this one.
Full-Finish Lipstick in Lady's Choice (pinky nude): This is a great colour. It is very natural and subtle, great for day wear. The colour is also very versatile and I feel it would look great on most if not all skin tones. The texture is smooth and creamy, and stays on for quite a while. I really like it!
Full-Finish Lipstick in No Competition (deep plum): This colour is a little too overpowering at first, but if applied sparingly it looks great, and is a nice nighttime alternative to red. It looks pretty and sophisticated and is creamy and smooth in texture.
Velvet Eyeshadow in Leggy (pink nude satin): After Benetint this is my favourite product in the palette. The texture is smooth and looks very soft on. It stays on all day and looks just radiant. The pink satin colour would be a nice complement to any complexion and works very well with the Dandy Brandy colour as a compliment. I am absolutely in love with the colour!
Velvet Eyeshadow in Dandy Brandy (copper spice): This is another great eye shadow. The texture is beautiful, it has great staying power and it has a beautiful sheen. It also makes a great liner (with the help of the liner brush).
The kit also includes the Fluff Shadow/Talent Brush and a Step-By-Step Lesson. All of the colours work beautifully together, and like the other reviewers mentioned they are great quality and make for a polished neutral look. The kit itself might be hard to find since it was from the Holiday 2009 line, however all of the products are available individually and I highly recommend all of them (minus the lip gloss).
This is one palette where you will find yourself using everything! Benefit's Celebutante: Personal Stylist Makeup Kit is for the makeup lover that wants to look polished with no fuss. The colours are neutral enough to look great on anyone. This kit is part of Benefit's Holiday line up. Any gal pal/makeup lover will love receiving this as a gift! It's no surprise the packaging is oh-so-adorably-chic - no need to wrap! Included in the kit is: High Beam Luminescent Complexion Enhancer, Benetint, Rose-Tinted Lip & Cheek Stain (rose), Dallas, The Outdoor Glow For The Indoor Gal Face Powder (rosy bronze), Lip Gloss in I'm With The Band (golden pink shimmer), Full-Finish Lipstick in Lady's Choice (pinky nude), Full-Finish Lipstick in No Competition (deep plum), Velvet Eyeshadow in Leggy (pink nude satin), Velvet Eyeshadow in Dandy Brandy (copper spice) - Fluff Shadow/Talent Brush- Step-By-Step Lesson.
It's definitely an amazing value. I love everything especially the shadows - great for a neutral look and lasts all day! I was surprised when the shadow didn't fade. All the colours in this palette work really together. It's a classic palette that I'll be using for a long time (or until it runs out!).
Nobody does a "get-the-look" makeup kit better than Benefit. And nobody teaches a novice or Benefit newcomer about modern tricks, tips and textures (cheek stain, liquid highlighter) better than they do, either.
Yes teach. If you've never picked up a Benefit get-the-look (it's what I call 'em) kit, then you don't know that along with quality cosmetics and the cutest mini-makeups ever, each contains a handy and helpful pamphlet of step-by-step instructions on how and where to apply everything.
Celebutante offers (l to r) mini Full-Finish lippies in Lady's Choice and No Competition, mini gloss in I'm With the Band, High Beam liquid complexion highlighter, Benetint lip-and-cheek stain, Leggy and Dandy Brandy powder eye shadow, Dallas bronzer-esque blush, itsy applicators, and of course easy-follow illustrations to guide you. Sooo pretty.
Available in stores in October 2009 -- mark your calendar -- Celebutante is a must-have, even if you already have all the full-size versions. The kit's also perfect for travel.
Other fab Benefit kits to check out include Smokin' Eyes (beyond-simple sexy), Realness of Concealness (ya gotta know how to cover up in order to reveal your best features), and Big Beautiful Eyes (which brilliantly includes... concealer!).
All lessons should be this much fun -- and as adorably packaged.
