Got this in a sub box and was not impressed...i find that i still need to use a curler even if it is supposed to replace it
I am a HUGE fan of both Benefit's Bad Gal Lash and They're Real mascaras, but am not so into Roller Lash.
Roller Lash has a "Hook n Roll" design on the brush, meant to catch and lift your lashes and give them a decent curl. The wand is curved, and has shorter bristles on the inner edge, with longer ones on the outer edge. This always messes with me for some reason (any curved wand from any mascara), because I find it hard to use the same technique on both eyes with this brush, and then my lashes might look thicker on one side, more curled on the other, etc.
I also find the plastic/rubber bristles to be a little rough on my eyes sometimes - maybe its me but I always get poked a little bit when I'm trying to apply the mascara to the very base of my lashes.
I do think the curved brush can emphasize and help lift the lashes, but it isn't a noticeable difference compared to my other mascaras.
The formula of Roller Lash seems a bit different than Benefit's other mascaras. For whatever reason, I find this to really clump my lashes together if I'm not careful. It also seems to flake off and become smudged throughout the day, a little more than I'm used to. My eyes are hooded and eye makeup tends to transfer on me, to my brow bone and under eye, but more so with certain mascaras and this is one of them.
Overall I would definitely recommend Roller Lash if you're interested in trying it and don't mind the price. I'm glad I tried it because I love Benefit's other mascaras, and I love mascara in general so I had to see what the product was like for myself. Unfortunately, for me this product is a little too clumpy and smudgy, and the brush design isn't my favourite, so it isn't worth the price.
I don't know what's wrong but this product didn't work for me. I know this is a holy grail to everyone but not for me. I've tried so many mascaras and although I love the brush of this one but the formula is very thick and doesn't seem to dry. I literally went all day feeling my eyelashes to see if they had dried, and sure enough they hadn't!
At first, this mascara is a very wet formula. It lengthened my lashes, but didn't add any volume or curl. As it dries out a bit, it get thicker and clumpy. It becomes more difficult to apply. I think you can buy better mascaras at a cheaper price point.
For the price of this mascara, it does not live up to the hype. Granted, I have sparse, stick straight Asian lashes that tend to grow downwards, but it did not deliver as promised. The only thing it seems to do is help hold the lash curled curl longer, but it does not curl or lift on its own. It also does not add any volume. I much prefer Benefit's Better than Sex mascara value wise although my favorite for volume, length and hold is Eyeko's Black magic mascara.
I really like the brush on this, but alas, the formula of the mascara itself is nothing great. It goes on really wet, and by the end of the day, I always find smudges under my eyes. I would be more willing to purchase this again if Benefit made a waterproof formula for this. In terms of the curling aspect, it does slightly "curl" my straight lashes, but nothing noticeable enough and doesn't do as good a job as an eyelash curler does.
My first Benefit product has definitely not lived up to the hype!!
Not really liking this mascara at all and I am a mascara fiend. For a quarter of the price, Maybelline Great Lash does a much better job.
The Benefit doesn't really do anything exceptional for the price and the hype.
I'm always excited to try new Mascara. Nothing it quite as fulfilling in the makeup department as finding a "Holy Grail" mascara. I had high hopes for this. I was disappointed. It did lengthen quite well actually, but the formula seemed to be very wet. It did a HORRIBLE job at separating lashes. It seemed to smooth the lashes together in long spidery tendrils. Not the thick, full, voluminous lashes I was hoping for.
