Moist cake in under 2 min
Was moist and delicious.cbetter than what I was able to make with my toaster oven. Perfect in a pinch and amazing taste for a mug cake in the microwave.
Perfect for that cake craving
I bought a box on a whim and was pleasantly surprised. It was riduculously easy to make, literally three tbsp of liquid, mix and nuke. Less than four minutes after I opened the box I was eating a half decent cake. The portion was perfectly sized to fufill that cake craving but not too big. The texture is different than a regular cake, but still tasty. I found that if I let the icing melt in to the cake an extra minute or two, the cake was way more moist and similar to regular cake.
Much Better Than I Expected!
This MugCake was suuper easy to make. It seemed almost too easy. But alas, the cake turned out pretty well. The cake tasted yummy and the icing was delicious. I was pretty impressed for a total baking time of 1 minute and 10 second kind of cake. The only negatives are that firstly, the cake didnt rise all the way to the top of my mug like in the photo on the box. It filled my mug about half way, which still turned out to be enough for a single serving. And secondly, the texture wasnt as moist as an oven baked cake but it also wasnt dry or anything either. It just wasn't identical to an oven baked cake, texture wise. But still, for the time and minimal effort, this cake was super!
Children loves these!
Great quick snack for the children! My girls love these. They are delicious and easy to make when I don't have time to whip something up for their sweet tooth.
Not loving it, not likely to purchase again
I bought these on sale, and they were still sort of pricey in my opinion. The flavours looked good, and I am always up for trying new products especially easy single serve options!
I found the texture weird, the taste was only ok, and for the price it simply wasn't worth it. I would prefer to make a simple mug cake from scratch.
Do not recommend.
Treat for One
I quite enjoy these. I am not a cake lover at all and tend to skip it at parties but these... I love that I can make a treat for one instead of a whole cake. Satisfies that craving and the option to use water or milk. While it doesn’t rise as much as the picture suggests it still is the perfect serving size. The cook time will vary depending on your microwave and my favourite way to indulge is to add the frosting soon out of the microwave and consume warm.
Not as expected
My daughter (9) and I where excited to try this quick sweet treat. The instructions where easy to follow, and the packaging was appealing. When I took the mug out of the microwave we where both very dissapointed; the cake did not fill the cup as much as the packaging suggested, the top of the cake was “tacky” to the couch, and the cake was not uniformaly cooked (we used the right mug size, cook time, and microwave heat). The icing was the best part, but if you put it on the warm cake it will completely melt and become liquid. You have to wait for the cake and the mug to cool down before putting on the icing (and trust me; seramc that has been warmed up that long takes a long time the cool down). Sadly, I won’t be buing this again.
Too Sweet!
We recently tried these and I thought that it was way too sweet! It felt like I was just eating "sugar" out of a bag! I wouldn't buy this again. Just tried it once but I didn't really like the taste and did not enjoy this.
Not worth the $
Your better off just to make a cake, at least then it will cook even. They tended to be uncooked on to and burned on the bottom. I do not recommend even if it’s easy.
Betty Crocker Mug Cake
I recently decided to try out Betty Crocker's Mug Cake. I purchased the Chocolate Peanut Butter variety, as I have a HUGE peanut butter fan in the household. Sadly, neither of us care too much for the taste of the cake itself. There isn't enough chocolate flavor. The cake itself, also doesn't rise as high in your mug, as the packaging suggests, Even the peanut butter "icing" takes FOREVER to come out of its "icing sleeve".
All that being said, I would buy another variety of Betty Crocker's Mug Cake, (to see how it tasted/performed) before writing this brand's version of a Mug Cake off entirely.
