Just recently started using Bio-Oil...I purchased it when the price was lower--it used to be around $12 at Walmart when it first came out. It is now around $16-$19. Some slight improvement so far in the areas I have been using it on, however it says to use it a minimum of 3 months.

I thought the product was just ok. I was expecting great results for my scar, but it seems to be fading just as quickly on its own as it did with bio oil. It is quite oily, but it does absorb quickly. Its a good price, but no major changes in my scar. I would not go run out and buy this product

It's not as effective on darker skin. I say you are better off with using vitamin E oil. its a little cheaper and just as effective on marks.

I bought the bio-oil last weekend and have been applying 2-3 times daily for 5 days now. I have a few age spots on my hands that bothered me quite a bit and i'm actually amazed that they have faded and are quite lighter!! I also apply it to my neck since I have a few wrinkles there that actually make me very self concious..and they appear to be less pronounced (and I have been trying all kinds of neck creams!) so I like this oil, it smells good, my skin rapidly absorbs it and the price is very good!! Wal-Mart sells it for $11.95 here!! It,s all natural too and hydrates my skin well!

PLEASE NOTE: My review is for the use of Bio-oil on your face to improve complexion and reduce the appearance of scars.

I have been suffering from the occasional breakout that would often leave a lasting impression on my face in the form of a scar/blemish. After trying several products to reduce the appearance of the blemishes/scars on my face, I turned to bio-oil because I read so many great reviews about the product.

    My experience:
Bio-Oil is extremely oily and the first time I put it on my face, I made sure to follow all the instructions properly (massaging techniques, how much to use, etc) and I noticed that it took a really long time for my skin to absorb the oil! So I went to sleep with it on my face and by morning, I woke up with really soft and supple skin! However, after a few more tries, I found that I was breaking out way too much so I completely stopped using it.

    The pros:
-Skin really is soft and supple the next day. Great for those with dry skin

    The cons:
-Inadequate instructions on how to properly use the product. For example, it states that it should be used twice a day, I don't see a problem with using it at nighttime before bed but what should I do in the morning? Should I use it before I moisturize and put on makeup? Should I even moisturize? I tried various ways to use it such as go without moisturizer and just put make up over the bio-oil product - that did not work out too well as my foundation ended up looking really blotchy/funny. I tried to use it under my moisturizer and that just made my face really oily.

-Further elevated my breakout problems. I literally had 5-6 a day during the week or so I tried to use it on my face.

The bottom line: It probably is great for other stretch marks on various parts of your body, but if you have normal-combination skin, I'd be skeptical about trying it on your face.

Six months I ago I accidentally knocked down a pot of boiling water in my kitchen and scaled my hand. Initially, I have heard that Bio-Oil is good for stretch marks and later learned that it also works on scars and wrinkles. Since the accident left a really large and unsightly scar on my right hand, I got myself a bottle. I also did some research to find if the product really works. I found this site ( www.bio-oil-review.com ) and learned that the person hosting the site is testing the product and giving her feedback once a month. When I looked at the before and after photos, I was pleasantly surprised. Go to www.bio-oil-review.com and see for yourself. I've been using it for three days now and it gives me hope that my scar will eventually fade. So far I haven't seen any changes but it does keep my hands soft and moist all day long. I agree with the previous posts - you must discipline yourself and apply the oil twice a day for a minimum of three months to see some results. I hope I can see mine really soon.

Overall, I am pleased with this product but at $18.99 I expected it to do a little more than what it did. Don't get me wrong I did see results as far as lightening ans smoothing scars and marks but for $20 I expected them to be gone!! I did not do any research on the clinical trials until after I'd already purchased and used quite a bit if the product. I was a tad discouraged to find out that the clinical trials were done on Caucasian women and no women of color. Of course, I knew that there results would not be my results. This can be used as a bath oil, I even used it in my face and it disn't clog my pores, imagine that... an oil that didn't clog pores!! I am very pleased with this purchased, just not to excited about the price. I would recommend it, but doubt that I'll be buying it any time in the near future.

I love that this bottle has multiple uses.
For the most part, I bought it to even out my skin tone (redness, and pigmentation), and to help with newer acne scars. You need to use this twice a day, for a minimum of 3 months to really start seeing proper results. And so, just like the other reviewer said, it is really a discipline thing. You need to massage it according to some of the instructions found in the pamphalet, and remember to be gentle.

I personally didn't see much in the redness and pigmentation category, but it did help to visually decrease the scars.

A 60ml bottle was 13.99 when I bought it at SDM, but you can frequently find it on sale for about $10.

I was surprised that bio-oil works. It was recommended by a friend (whose doctor had recommended). It definitely reduces the appearance of fine lines and spots. Note that you do need to use it twice daily. You use such a small amount each time, it is a discipline issue, not economic.
