Spent a lot of money on this for a piece of junk that I threw out finally. I would fill bad giving it away. First of cord is not long enough, so you need a extension cord. Left streaks and it didn't clean all that well. You need more then two pads . I hated it. Don't waste your money. Piece of Junk!
Ok here is the skinny... Don't buy this... Lets start with the cleaning aspect... you need about 10 of the pads to clean the kitchen and living room if you have hardwood floors... or it leaves streaks... the steam killing 99.5 percent of the germs is true... but at what cost? As a pro cleaner I cringed every time i saw one of these in a clients home because... over time all of their hardwood flooring was getting damage that was going to end them up with needing to replace VERY expensive real hardwood floors. In houses that were 5 years old the gap was extremely large and some of the floor boards showes signs of warpage... the gaps were always bigger in the homes with these mops. In laminate flooring... the wood kind it can cause the seam to puff up and wreck it... I have seen vinyl flooring in brand new homes peal because of these mops. When you use this mop on tile flooring it cleans the tiles and totally misses the grout.
I have seen flooring from people that have used these mops for up to 5 years and in my opinion it is one of the most destructive pieces of cleaning equipment to own.
I received the Bionaire Steam mop as a Christmas gift from my mother in law (a VERY discerning shopper!!) and I love it! Being able to wash my floors, steam area carpets, and steam/sanitize areas is perfect!
The detachable hand held unit is not heavy, but can be cumbersome depending on where you are cleaning. It heats up rapidly and allows you to cover a large surface without having to refill the unit.
The microfibre cloth for the floor does not leave any streaks and truly shows you how dirty a floor is when it appears clean! The unit comes with two floor cloths and if you are like me, a replacement can be made with relative ease --although these look like they will last a long time! They wash up very nicely in the washing machine (just don't wash with fabrics that tend to shed fibres as the cloth will pick them up in the wash).
The plastic attachment/storage piece for use on area carpets is great in its versatility--keeps your mop off the floor to keep cloth clean, and glides easily over carpets to gently steam them.
The handle is telescopic and made of metal which will attest to the possible longevity of the appliance. This also allows comfortable movement in conjunction with the swivel base to go around corners.
The ONLY disadvantage is the lack of a brush attachment for the handheld unit, it would make cleaning around sinks and corners much easier.
Overall, I would recommend spending the little extra on this unit.
Bought this mop just over a year ago....so did another family member. Both are now broken. As soon as the warranty was over it died. :(
