Not that great of a serum compared to what wonders others can do.
Bought from costco, pretty expensive as well, unscented so smells like medicine
Works for a while, after the hair is more frizzier, coarse and dry!
It is moisturizing but for some reason it irritates my scalp and gives me flakes! No thanks. It was a fairly pricey product but I got it on sale. Nice smell, good product - just not good on my scalp.
I think after using Biosilk Silk Therapy, I've pretty much tried the vast majority of leave-in hair serums on the market (well, except for It's a 10).
I only intended on trying out Biosilk Silk Therapy because quite some time ago one blogger commented that she loved Biosilk as a leave-in serum. Hmmm well I have to say I am disappointed with the product and that it's just mediocre at best. It doesn't stand out from a crowd of others on the market - it does a good job as a detangler after washing my hair but any other serum will do that. Once my hair air dries with this stuff in it, it doesn't seem to have any lasting shine or manageability. I much prefer CHI Silk Infusion or my favourite, HANA Shine Shield Thermal Protectant (both which I reviewed on Chickadvisor and on my blog).
Biosilk silk therapy is great at best. At first, my hair was straightened so easily, the serum, not the flat iron, did the work. And my locks were light, super shiny, silky, smelled nice, and felt pampered with such an expensive item! I loved it so much I would use it every other week after I washed my hair. But the problem is I just recently got a haircut and I haven't damaged it much, yet my hair is dry when it doesn't eat it's biosilk one day. My hair is dull now, not shiny how it was naturally or super shiny how biosilk would make it, but it lost it's natural luster! I was deeply saddened that my hair grew accustomed( I didn't even use it for more than 3 months!)so I quickly stopped the habit and just tried to get back my normal hair. It's been a month and still my hair is dull, but getting better. I use it every now and then, just for the sake of the huge bottles I had bought to try. It is true you grow accustomed to things quickly and maybe avoid using this product too much if your hair is addicted to everything. They do say it depends on the person. But I have to admit- Biosilk makes wonders for super curly afro poodle hair! :) Cheers!
I personally have not liked the way that Biosilk makes my hair feel. I have used the Shampoo, Conditioner, and a serium. My hairdresser swears buy the Biosilk line of products. My results were just that my hair felt brittle and I felt as if I had more flyaways than before my shower. I would never just wash with the shampoo and conditioner; you almost have to follow these products up with some type of after shower styling product. But when I just use my herbal essences I don't feel like I have to shampoo AND condition. I don't even have to follow up with any additional products if I don't want to.
A few people with similar hair to mine (curly, frizzy and slightly unruly) have said they have been using Biosilk forever and that it is one of their staple hair care products. So, on my never ending quest for glossy frizz free curls I decided to give it a try.
It is available in most salons, and I also have also spotted it at Shoppers Drug Mart and Pharma Plus. The smaller bottle sells for between $14-20 while the bigger bottle (which is double the size) sells for $20-24. Obviously the bigger bottle is a much better deal if you love the product. A friend of mine lent me hers to try and thank god she did because otherwise I would have been out 20 bucks.
I cannot tell you how much I hated this product. It simply did not work well with my hair. Its thin oily consistency only requires you to use a small amount on wet to damp hair (you can also use it post styling on dry hair). I used it after my shower on damp hair, and as I let my hair air dry it looked as though I had walked home in the rain. My curls were flat and completely lacked bounce and volume, however at the same time they were still frizzy as if I had not put any product in them at all. I thought for oil I would have to use less of this product, but after this experience I decided to try more. WRONG AGAIN. It did the same thing. Lastly I smoothed it through my damp hair before blow drying it straight. For this purpose it worked quite well – my hair was shiny and silky, while not being weighed down by product. I was happy with this result but do not feel like investing 20 dollars in a product I use on the rare occasion I blow my hair out.
From my experience I can only recommend trying this product out. As with any hair product, it works wonders for some, and not at all for others. I know that kind of advice doesn’t help you much if you’re trying to decide whether to buy it or not (sorry!) but at least you won’t expect it to work miracles just because it is a salon product.
I used to use this product religiously but i always found that it was perhaps a bit heavy or maybe made my hair too greesy the day after i used it. im not sure what it was about this product but it wasn't "perfect". A stylist reccomended that i try a product called 'moroccan oil' which esentially is almost the same as biosilk but better.
so if you're looking for an alternative i would reccomend Moroccan oil
