I am always looking for new lip balms to keep my lips moisturised but since I've had eczema my whole life, my lips are one of the most sensitive parts when it comes to using products on them, I can't wear lipstick or anything that has to much colour to it as it breaks them out, so I have to be really careful. The lip butters caught my eye and they do smell really great, they were around $6 (i got the mini one) which is not bad for the little pot you get as I imagine it will last a long time. The negative's for me was that it doesn't keep my lips moisturised at all. All in all it was worth a shot but I wont be buying it again.
I love the smell of coconut, and this has a very lovely coconut scent. However, the product itself is not that great.
I've tried a few different lip butters from The Body Shop. This one doesn't have a very smooth consistency, whereas the others do. It's a bit gritty and bumpy. It's also pure white, so if you put it on your lips and the layer isn't spread out evenly, your lips will look awfully strange!
I don't think that this moisturizes all that well. Their lip therapy sticks do a much better job, but this is so thin that it doesn't really do anything. The only thing I would end up using it for is my cuticles, if I had nothing else.
I had a hard time choosing if I would recommend this product or not. I love the coconut smell of this lip butter but that doesn't mean I'd repurchase it! There is no color, very little glossiness, or staying power at all with this product. I adore the smell but this is not something that has lasting power and I find myself continually dipping into the tub to rehydrate. I'd say it's an average product that smells really great!
I just ran out of the Shea Lip Care Stick from the Body Shop and used their Coconut Lip Butter instead. As I rubbed it onto my lips, I remembered why I replaced it with the stick in the first place. My lips are constantly drying out, and while the butter lasts longer and leaves a really smooth feel if my lips are already soft, it does nothing to rehydrate. My lips continue to get dryer until I use a stick. It smells great, carrying the image of a tropical beach to mind as I unscrew the lid and take a whiff of the first few particles that float up towards my nose. If you're looking for a lip moisturizer, it's not worth paying the Body Shop price for their lip butter. However, if you're looking for a nude gloss, it's a good purchase (I still stand by my stars). I like to put chapstick or a light matte lipstick on and the butter over top of it.
I usually love products from Body Shop but my lips get really chapped and it really didn't make my lips feel better. I love the scent though! It's great though for people who don't normally chap.
