I was one of the lucky few to be chosen to try the new Breyer's Smooth and Dreamy Ice Cream. The flavour I bought was Mocha Fudge Brownie, but I didn't like it very much. The ice cream itself though was really good. Very creamy, very rich. You'd never know that it only has 1/2 the fat. I will buy this again (in a different flavour) and am eager to try the "No Sugar Added" variety of the Smooth and Dreamy, which I was unable to find in the grocery stores in my area. Oh, and the ice cream scoop that came with the coupon was fantastic!
I tested the Smooth and Dreamy Vanilla Bean Ice Cream and I enjoyed it very much. It tasted great and was very soft. It's awesome that it's only half the fat because it tastes just as good as the normal ones. I would buy this again and my family enjoyed it very much too. Delicious Ice Cream.
Got a great scooper too!!!
I tried this ice cream for free from chick advisor! Thanks for this great opportunity, and I LOVED the ice cream scoop that came with this tester opportunity as well!
With the free product coupon I got, I tried the vanilla bean ice cream, and I felt that it was just as tasty as the ice cream that contains more fat, so i was very happy with this new product.
I would recommend this product to others to try forsure, as it is healthier being that is has less fat, but it is kinda pricey. However, being that it is healthier I guess it is worth the extra money. I am not sure if I would buy it again, because it seems like a lot to spend one ice cream, I guess I would just maybe wait for a sale or something.
I was very happy to be selected to attend the Breyers Smooth and Dreamy ice cream tasting event. I tried all the flavours, and it wasn't until after my second scoop and it was announced that the ice cream was half the fat that I had realized. I almost could not believe that this sweet, delicious, creamy goodness was half the fat!
As far as flavors go:
Mocha Fudge Brownie: my personal favourite. the mocha takes the sweetness down a notch, making it perfect. little brownie chunks also add a nice texture change to the ice cream.
Dulce de Leche: second favourite. If you are a caramel lover, this is the ice cream for you!
Vanilla: always a classic. Stays true to its flavor and the creamy texture just makes it so much better.
Strawberries and Cream: A bit too sweet, and I personally perfer strawberry pieces rather than a swirl.
Chocolate: Tastes like a churned fudge-sicle!
The product is great. The only downside of it is its price. $9 at my local grocery store, it is definitely pricey for a bucket of ice cream. However, for people who are watching their weight and see ice cream as a rare chance for indulgence - this maximizes yummyness and minimizes guilt!
Thanks to Breyers & The product review club for sending a free coupon my way to try this ice cream! I would definately consider myself an ice cream addict, so I like the idea of an ice cream that is 1/2 the fat.
I chose the Creamy Chocolate flavor. I found it impossible to tell it was only half the fat. Breyers did not compromise on taste! I loved how it melts in your mouth and you can stir it up to taste just like soft ice cream. It was very creamy and has an appealing texture. My family tried it as well and everyone was very satisfied. Love it!
The only thing would stop me from purchasing this next time I have an ice cream craving is the price. At 8.69 it is over double what I would usually pay for ice cream. Maybe for an occasional treat I will pick this up again but it is hard to justify spending that much money on a tub of ice cream when there are so many cheaper alternatives, even if it is delicious!
I was fortunate enough to be able to attend the tasting in Vancouver and had the opportunity to taste all of the flavours!
Breyers Smooth & Dreamy Ice Cream has half the fat than regular ice cream. I had the opportunity to taste five flavours: Creamy Chocolate, Dulce de Leche, Vanilla, Mocha Fudge Brownie and Strawberries and Cream. If you go on the website though, it seems as though they have a lot more than these five flavours in the Smooth and Dreamy line...which means that I might have to go out and buy another flavour to sample!
I found that the "plain" flavours (vanilla and chocolate) were by far the creamiest and you could barely tell that they tried to hack calories out of the ice cream. I heard some other tasters comment that these ones were too creamy, but I disagree. I found them to be perfectly velvety! If I had a craving for some sweet, full-fat ice cream, these two flavours would fulfill my craving for sure! I wouldn't feel like I cheaped out and went for a low-cal replacement.
The other three flavours (Mocha Fudge Brownie, Strawberries and Creme and Dulce de Leche) I felt missed the point a bit. The ice cream tasted good, but the extras like the caramel, strawberry and fudge that they mixed in tasted a bit "chemically" as if they sweetened it with aspartame or something similar to help keep the calories down.
Overall, I think they did a good job in attempting to keep the fat and calories down while still maintaining the integrity of ice cream, however, it would not be my first choice during a craving for ice cream. I am not a regular consumer (2-3 times a year) and like to go for the real-deal and not concern myself with the calorie consumption. I would say that this would make a great product for regular ice cream consumers that are looking to keep their habit a bit healthier.
I attended the tasting for the new Breyers Smooth and Dreamy Ice Cream. The great thing about this new line of ice cream is that it is half the fat of regular ice cream but still taste like real ice cream. The ice creams ranged from 120 to 140 calories per 1/2 cup which is pretty amazing for ice cream. If I didn't already know that the ice creams were half the fat going into the tasting I would've never guessed it based on tasting them.
I tried both the Creamy Chocolate and the Mocha Fudge Brownie. While both were very creamy and rich, I definitely preferred the Mocha Fudge Brownie. The Creamy Chocolate was a bit too sugary tasting for me while the Mocha Fudge Brownie was fanstastic - I will definitely be buying this in the future and recommending it to my friends - so good!
Thank you to Ali and everyone else who put on this tasting event - you guys did a great job!
I received a coupon from the prodcut review club to purchase this product to try and so first of all thank you!
I found this Ice Cream really good! I tried the chocolate flavour one and really enjoyed it. The claim to being creamy was not mistaken. The ice cream was really creamy and very flavourful. Compared to full fat regular ice cream i did not find a difference at all in taste. I would never have known it was a reduced fat option. There was just as much flavour as any other ice cream out there with full fat. For this reason i would buy this ice cream over any other regualr ice cream. However this ice cream did come with a $9.50 price tag. This is pretty pricy for ice cream and i dont think i could bring myself to pay this much for a tub of ice cream. Though it was very good, i do not think it was worth that much money. I would definetly recommend Breyers smooth and creamy ice cream for its yummy taste, and the reduced calories is just an added bonus.
Not only did i try this product but i had my family try it out as well and they all throughly enjoyed it as well.
I know what I will be getting this summer for desert.
I was fortunate enough to have the chance to review this ice cream, and I have to say this is the creamiest and richest low-fat ice cream I have ever taste. I love everything full-fat, but the mocha flavour totally turned my view around, and allowed me to discover a guilt-free alternative to desert. Would defintely recommend to everyone I know.
And it was so creative that at the event they paired manicures and cocktails with ice cream!
Now armed with a free product coupon, I have a hard decision to make between mocha and dulce de leche...
I tried the Mocha Fudge Brownie flavour of the Breyers Smooth & Dreamy Ice Cream. It was really good. Very very rich and creamy - honestly, you would not know that this is the low fat version of the ice cream! The mocha flavour was nice, and the fudge is very decadent. You only need a little bit of this ice cream to feel like you've had a treat. It's comparable to gourmet brands like Hagen Daas.
The only downside is the price - at Loblaws, it's $7.99. That's not as much as Hagen Daas, but still, that's a fair bit to pay for a tub of ice cream. If I was feeling like a splurge, I would buy it again.
