I bought this for my baby because it was on sale. The price point was great, but the singing owl didn't work from the start. We returned it, and we found the same problem with the other. Rather than take it back a second time, we decided to just cut it open and replace the batteries (your only option for replacing batteries on the owl) After our little "operation" it worked fine for a month or so before it stopped working again.
The rest of the mat is great. The colours are beautiful and work well in a little girl's room. The toys are very simple teether/rattle style ones, and there is a mirror that my daughter enjoyed as well. It folds up flat to fit under a crib or a couch and be pulled out with only a quick twist of the wrist for set-up.
Aside from the malfunctioning owl I would recommend this as a playmat.

We got one of these for our baby girl and she regularly plays with it, enjoying it very much where most other toys haven't kept her attention for very long. She plays with each of the toys, but likes the owl in the centre, which plays 4 tunes, best. Her face lights up each time it plays one of the melodies. I only wish they'd made it so that you could replace the battery :/ But other than that she loves it, so I'm very happy with it.
