This had a subtle taste, not overpowering. I'm not sure if I liked the texture of the very tiny bits of berry & almond. I think I prefer a bar with either big chunks or the flavour blended in smooth.

I've had the chance to test the Brookside Chocolate tablet bar in Blueberry Almond with Acai Flavor. The chocolate is very tasty, although somewhat similar to the other bites format, and even my boyfriend enjoyed it. I find it very sugary tho, but it does calm a chocolate craving in a breeze. I will definitely buy this in the future.

I received this bar to review, courtesy of ChickAdvisor.
Brookside's Blueberry Almond with Acai Chocolate Tablet Bar was pretty good, but if I had to choose it would be my least favourite of the three I got tried. It was enjoyable, but to me the flavours didn't really "pop" like the Mango Coconut Crunch, or the Tart Cherry Crisp! When I opened the bar, it smelled good, but definitely more mellow and less fruity than the other two.
There were lots of little blueberries in this, but I wish the almond pieces were bigger. I think the other two definitely had more texture and crunch. The taste was good, but not as memorable to me as the others I tried.
Even though I prefer the other two flavours that I got to try, this was a nice treat! I would recommend trying it to anyone who likes fruit and nut chocolate bars. Personally, I would buy the Mango Coconut Crunch again in a heartbeat, and probably the Tart Cherry Crisp too! I loved how different these chocolate bars are from the usual selection - Brookside has really created something unique and delicious. I was so lucky to be part of this ChickAdvisor Product Review, and I'll be keeping my eye out for Brookside chocolates when I go shopping!

I wasn't sure if I would enjoy this flavour of Brookside Chocolate Tablet, but I was pleasantly surprised. While the initial bite was kind of "hmm, I'm not sure about this" in my mouth, the aftertaste was really yummy and I found myself continually reaching for another piece until the entire bar was gone! I would recommend it.

Disclosure > Thanks to Brookside Chocolate Bars and ChickAdvisor for the opportunity to review Brookside's Blueberry Almond with Acai Dark Chocolate Bar #BrooksideChocolateBars /////

    MY REVIEW /////

The packaging > I am very impressed with the high quality packaging of these chocolate bars. Each bar comes in a sturdy cardboard sleeve that helps protect the bar from damage. The packaging has an aesthetically pleasing design. The high quality images of the chocolate bar on the front cover of the packaging clearly show its ingredients. Within the cardboard sleeve, you will find the chocolate bar itself. The bar is wrapped in a blue plastic foil wrapper with a classy looking pattern to preserve the bar's freshness. The packaging is very informative. It lists the nutritional value of the bar and its ingredients. It even has allergy information. All in all, the packaging gives you the impression that this is a premium chocolate bar.

    The aroma >
Upon opening the wrapper, you are greeted by a very pleasant, yet subtle sweet aroma. You can definitely smell a hint of the blueberries and acai berries that are within this bar.

The appearance of the bar >
The bar itself is beautifully designed. It is conveniently segmented into an interesting mosaic of rectangles and squares. It was very easy for me to split the bar evenly three ways due to the way the bar was segmented. Some of the rectangles and squares have images of the Brookside logo embossed on them, while others have a pattern matching that of the plastic foil wrapping...very attractive!

    The ingredients >
I really like the fact that all of the chocolate bar's ingredients are evenly distributed and visible throughout the bar. You can clearly see the almonds and blueberries. The blueberries are particularly visible. Also, the ingredients appear to be all-natural, recognizable, and pronounceable.

    The texture >
The texture of the chocolate bar is interesting. It is a balanced combination of crunchy, creamy, and chewy. The bar has just the right thickness, making it easy to bite into. You certainly won't lose a tooth eating this chocolate bar.

    The flavour >
The chocolate bar has just the right amount of sweetness. I think the almond bits help to tone down the bar's sweetness. The bar's almond flavour isn't overwhelmed by the flavours of blueberries and acai berries.

    Value >
At a MSRP of $3.69, I find this chocolate bar to be average to fairly good value given its quality and weight.

    Conclusion >
I really enjoyed the appearance, taste, and texture of this chocolate bar. I would recommend it to anyone who enjoys quality dark chocolate that's permeated with the flavours of blueberry and acai berry. The packaging is so attractive, that I would not be ashamed to give this chocolate bar as a gift to someone. I will probably purchase this chocolate bar in addition to the chocolate I already buy because of the uniqueness of its flavour and texture.

I really enjoyed this bar of chocolate as I've been a fan of Brookside clusters. Love the combination of blueberry almond and acai together. Love that it's always dark chocolate, great quality and taste! It definitely satisfies my cravings and I would definitely buy it for myself and others!

I received this product for free as part of the Product Review Club. This bar was great in that it wasn't overly sweet like milk chocolate but wasn't as dry as some dark chocolate can be. It had a nice light fruity flavour but also had some crunch from the almonds. All of these factors came together in a delightfully unique chocolate bar like I've never had before and will definitely be repurchasing. It's more satisfying than the regular chocolate bars out there - in both flavour and texture. Overall a great treat!

I received Brookside Chocolate Tablet Bar in Blueberry Amond with Acai Berry Flavour for free in the mail as part of the ChickAdvisor Product Review Club. The first thing I noticed was that the packaging makes it quite easy to save a portion of the bar for later. All you have to do is make sure you open the inside wrapper like a chip bag from the top so that it still covers the surface of the bar, then just place it back in the cardboard outer wrapping. This is especially useful for those of us who try to indulge our chocolate cravings in moderation or are utilizing a portion-control diet management system.

When I first opened the bar, the first smell I noted was that of chocolate and blueberry. I did not detect any hints of acai berry as the packaging suggested. This observation was also present when I tried the bar itself, though some of the tartness from the blueberries may be mistaken for the acai berries. The bar did have a nice balance between tartness from the blueberry/acai berry flavour and the sweetness of the dark chocolate. The extra bit of crunch the almonds provided was a nice touch with the tiny fruit pieces in the bar. The almond pieces definitely did do a wonderful job rounding out the overall flavour experience. It did provide a different texture from the previous bar I had tested though. The crisp rice pieces in the Brookside Chocolate Tablet Bar in Tart Cherry Crisp with Pomegranate Flavour did a better job melding with the fruit so it didn’t stick as much to your teeth. If you wear braces, it may be a good idea to use caution when eating this bar as the fruit pieces may cause you trouble.

Unlike many dark chocolate bars, this one was not particularly bitter, almost having the quality of 50% cocoa as opposed to 70% or higher. If you prefer your dark chocolate strong as noted in bars of 70% cocoa or higher, you may find this bar too sweet to your liking. If you are someone who likes a sweeter bar, closer to middle of the road sort of cocoa content, you will probably enjoy it. You may even like it if you like milk chocolate. Overall this is a great product but don’t buy it if you are banking on the acai berry flavor being the predominant sensation for your palate but if you love blueberries and chocolate, this bar may be just what you need.
