I received this bar free from the Chick Advisor Product Review Club.
This wasn't my favourite flavour, but not the worst one either. I wish the chocolate flavour was more prominent. The cherry and pomegranate flavours were nice though.
This bar is a good snack. Tastes wonderful, is a good quantity, and ofcourse a perfect blend of fruits, chocolate and nuts. The combination works so well, usually I do not like the cherry flavour but the combination with pomegranate gives it a nice balance of flavour and not have cherry flavour overwhelm. I do not appreciate glycerine in the ingredients though, and I liked brookside products because they generally don't have it in other products. Thanks ChickAdvisor Product Review Club for letting me try it for free.
I liked the idea of this one - cherry and pomegranate, two fruits that are definitely not on the cheap side to eat fresh, and definitely (with cherries at least) a seasonal fruit. I liked the combination, the tartness of the cherry with the subtler flavor of the pomegranate. The dark chocolate with it was that added burst of sophisticated sweet.
I definitely enjoyed this one more and felt all fancy eating it - a grown up granola bar
I received the 3 flavours of Brookside Dark Chocolate Fruit and Nut Bars as part of the Product Review Club (thank you!). The Cherry with Pomegranate was my 2nd favorite behind the blueberry. Although, they could have just called it Cherry in my opinion - I didn't get much pomegranate taste (which was a bit disappointing as I adore pomegranate seeds!) I really like the look of the bars - the clear packaging is a definite bonus, since the bars themselves are so visually appealing. The bar is definitely sweet, however, it doesn't have that over-powering grainy sugar taste that many granola bars have. The portion is big enough for sure (perhaps a bit too big, if using these as a 'snack'). Likely the other two, the nuts and sugar definitely overpowered the bar and gave the 'flavours' a second seat. Given this - I still enjoyed it with my morning coffee and it kept me full until lunch. That's a good thing - considering the nutritional content - too much sugar for my typical morning snacks - and 7 weight watcher smart points per bar. (which is a lot considering a typical daily consumption is 30 points). At an average price of 1.99 per bar, I find them overpriced as well. I decided to recommend it - based on the fact that it was delicious - however, I likely won't be purchasing them.
I was lucky enough to try this product for free with Chick Advisor. I found this flavour to be the best one out of the 3, but found the texture to be very gummy and this was a very big no no.
Expensive and contains more sugar then I hoped. I like that it contains nuts (protein!) and that it is made of dark chocolate (not a fan of milk chocolate). My youngest daughter didn't like it at all.
I prefer bars with no chocolate and that contain less sugar and more fiber and protein. At least it is dark chocolate, which I do enjoy eating. I found this product ok but the taste is too similar from one flavor to the other. My youngest daughter didn't like this flavor at all.
I love Brookside products and this bar is a great size with a good calorie count. It has a lot of good ingredients but the pumpkin seeds still overpower it and it's too sweet overall.
Thanks to brookside and chickadvisor I got to try this our free. The bar is chalked full of great ingredients. The whole nuts is a nice upgrade to a traditional granola bar or protein bar.But I just hated the taste it reminded me of children's red cough medicine I will don't be buying this flavor but I'm still glad I got the chance to try it.
As someone who is always looking for healthier snack options for my family I was happy to try this bar. It is made with real fruit, non-GMO products, is a source of fibre, AND is gluten free. Unfortunately I really disliked this flavour as it very strongly reminded me of cough syrup. I could not eat more than two bites before I had to put it down. My husband agreed with me yet my two children (ages 15, 12) thought the flavour was fine. Perhaps because I have never given them cherry flavoured cough syrup before? Anyway, I do not recommend this flavour unless you like cough syrup. I received this product free as part of the ChickAdvisor Product Review Club, opinions are my own.
I liked this bar. I found it wasn't as sweet as the blueberry one. This is my favorite one out of the blueberry and cranberry bars. It was a little sweet, and I think I would like it more if it had some nuts in it and a little less chocolate.
