Unhealthy
This bar was way too sweet. It was more like a candy bar compared to a granola bar which is suppose to be nutritious. It did not keep me full and I was hungry immediately after despite the high caloric content of the bar.. This is due to the large amount of sugars and carbohydrates.
I was lucky to be a free tester from Chick Advisor! The wrapping of the bars is very appealing, and the wording makes it sound very healthy. But once you start looking at the calories and fat content you realize this is very misleading! The fat content on this tiny bar is extremely high! So are the calories! For the not so great taste I would not waste the calories or fat intake on a bar like this!!! Not to mention the flavour is not very good, and the texture is very gummy and the nuts are so hard I thought I was going to crack a tooth! There are plenty different bars on the market that are healthier and taste better in this price range, so I will not be purchasing this product and I will not be recommending it!
I love the dark chocolate and granola flavour, but the fruit flavour didn't necessarily appeal to me. I found the blackberry to be a bit overpowering and since in most cases, cranberry can leave a sour/bitter-like taste, and that's what I tasted with this bar. I personally didn't favour the flavour of this and wouldn't be interested in trying it again.
the taste was so-so but they are really small and for the price its a pass for me they kinda fall apart in your hands and the dark chocolate is overwhelming the cranberries were disgusting
I was not a big fan of this bar. It was bland and nothing really stuck out. The bites are also to big for my kids. I dont think I would buy this one again;
I received the Brookside Dark Chocolate Fruit & Nut Bars from the Product Review Club.
These initial comments are relevant to all 3 flavours and flavour specific comments are below.
My first impression was that they looked amazing. I really liked the transparent packaging. The Visual appeal of the bars is strong with quality ingredients being prominently displayed.
The portion size is good although $2.00 a bar is a too high in my opinion.
They use lots of buzzwords like Gluten Free, High Fibre, Source of Antioxidant, All Natural Flavours etc. based on the marketing and packaging of the bars, I believed that I was getting a really healthy, wholesome bar that I could feel good about eating.
After tasting the bars and reading the ingredient list I'm not so sure that's true. Look closely at the ingredients and you will find that almost 50% of the bars main ingredients are or include high sugar components. (The ingredients are more or less the same for each of the 3 flavours)
(Ingredient #2) Dark Chocolate (sugar; Chocolate; Cocoa Butter; Milk Fat; Cocoa Processed With Alkali; Soy Lecithin; Milk; Salt; Vanilla)
Sweetened Blueberries (blueberries; Sugar)
High Maltose Corn Syrup
Sweetened Cranberries (CRANBERRIES; Sugar; Grape Juice Concentrate; Blueberry Juice Concentrate; Sunflower Oil)
Invert Sugar

I think its important to be fully aware of the true nature of a product rather than the presented nature of a product. If you are buying this bar because you think its a super healthy alternative to some of the other popular snack options you may be mistaken.
The Cranberry Blackberry flavour was OK. As with the pomegranate and acai the blackberry is present as “flavour only”. I find the intensity of the sweetness to be hard to get past and it takes away from the highlights of the bar. love the whole almonds and the pumpkin seeds, I love the texture and the crunch of the bars, and I love the visual appeal of the product. I wish the fruit was not soaked in sugar and I wish that high maltose corn syrup was not used as the binding agent. The dark chocolate is the second listed ingredient on the bars and its flavour is completely lost among the rest of the sweetness.
I was lucky to be selected to be part of the Product Review Club for the Brookfield Bars. Unfortunately, I have to say the bars had an interesting taste to them and the "fruit" flavour of cranberry and blackberry did not taste right. It was a manufactured flavour and left an odd taste in my mouth. For the 180 calories and little protein I would sooner buy a "real" chocolate bar.
Eww. This was my least favorite of the bars. The taste wasn't up to par with their other products or even other granola or nut bars. I have to say I will not be purchasing these.
