Is it really worth the $77?

I am a huge advocate for buying good products to nourish your hair and care for your body. Bumble & Bumble’s BB Creme de Coco Shampoo can and should definitely be considered a luxury shampoo, considering it can cost up to $77 CAD for the 1L bottle, which is what I bought from Sephora.

To be honest, my go to shampoo brand is Biolage - I agree with their ingredients list and I feel comfortable putting it in my hair. My partner actually got me to try Bumble & Bumble. It used to be his favourite shampoo brand for quite a few years and we came across it again on Sephora’s site. I was in need of a new shampoo since my Biolage had just run out, so I thought I’d give Bumble and Bumble a go since he kept raving about it. $77 later and here I am.

I’ve been using this shampoo for around two months now. It says it’s meant to minimize frizz, increase shimmer, moisturize and improve flexibility (in your hair of course, although I wish they meant the whole body! Lol). I can say that half of this claim is true. I have noticed my hair, specifically the top of my head become more shiny and it dos feel like it had reduced frizz. I have very thick hair and it can get extremely frizzy if I let it air dry, and this seems to have helped a little bit. As for moisture and flexibility, nothing really seems to have changed.

Let’s talk about the ingredients now… although I’m glad this product doesn’t contain DMDM Hydantoin, which was recently brought to light by TikTok and other social medias to have caused immunotoxicity to humans and a lot of eye, skin and lung irritation, it still does contain sulphates, which I am not a huge fan of. There are plenty of hair care brands out there, under this price point, that can provide paraben, phathalate AND sulphate free shampoo products that I feel would be more beneficial and a better bang for your buck. It’s not even considered part of Sephora’s “Clean at Sephora” line, which is probably another red flag.

It smells fine, lathers amazing, but is it worth the price? In my opinion, no. You’re better off buying another product (like Bioloage), which you can spend half the cost for the same amount of product.
