    Gets gunky

I am a lipbalm addict, and I am also in the process of collecting quite a few lipsticks and glosses. My lips have a tendency to crack and bleed if not constantly moisturized, so I am careful that the products I use don't dry them out further or damage them. Burt's Bees Matte Stick to me falls somewhere between a lipbalm and a matte lipstick. I am on the fence about how much I like it though.

I have two colors, Buttery Blush and Liquid Honey. Buttery Blush, is more of a pinky-taupe and suits my usual looks more. Both sticks came with wax bloom, due to their natural content. This looks like it could be mold, but it's just the waxes and oils in the sticks reacting to the changes in temperatures and environments they were put through to get to me (shipping). They were perfectly fine and safe to use, though I notice the sticks continue to be sensitive to changes in temperature, and I have centralized air. This also affects how they apply, the first time I used them, they felt very dry and stiff, and very hard to spread with no slick to them. After being on my lips and warming up, the product softened and felt and looked much nicer, actually a bit moisturizing too! The next couple of times I tried warming Buttery Blush in my hands a little before applying and it made a big difference in ease of use, I was also able to get more sheer coats out of the stick. The shades were nicer, a matte finish with a slight satin sheen, but after a while they got a little gunky.

But it's a bit more work than I really want out of a product. I prefer grab, apply and go. I also worry about what would happen if I kept it in my purse when I went out on a warm or hot day if it's this sensitive? Too, twice now I didn't close a cap at the exact right angle and the stick smushed and was not fixable, I was not impressed.

To be honest, while I love that it's a natural product with some very nice shades, there are similar ones out there that are not so fussy and that look better overall. I will stick with Burt's Bees lipbalms for now.

I received these products free as part of a testing program from another company, but my opinion is my own.

    Tacky

The shade I tried was Buttery Blush which was barely visible after application. I found this very tacky and had to be dragged across the lips. The colour doesn’t last very long. This felt like a weird cross between lipstick and lip balm. I am not a fan of lip balm. For me this was a miss, but if you like lip balm then this might be good for you.

Normally I love Burt’s Bees, but this one left me lackluster and wanting.
