Moreish and yummy, but high salt
When it comes to taste and texture, this soup is awesome. It has plenty of stuff in it and really is 'chunky'. Often with pre-made food like this, there isn't a lot of meat or bits, but this is packed full, meaning you can easily eat it without bread for lunch and still be full. It's really very moreish, with soft (like when you slow cook it) chicken, veggies and rice.
My only complaint would be the salt, though I understand it's for taste and also to preserve it, I feel the sodium content is waaaaay too high. These kinds of hidden sodiums are really the worst danger to people as if you don't check labels you don't even realise. While it's not a problem that's unique to Campbells, I also hate that labels only show a 'portion' of the soup in nutrition info. It should be for the whole can. So the nutritional information all needs to be more than doubled. For example, for the whole can, the values would be:
Calories - 237.6
Fat - 5.4 grams
Cholesterol - 32.4 mg
Sodium - 1663.2 mg
Carbohydrates - 36.72 g
of which sugars 6.48 g
Protein 12.96 g
As a result of the hugely high salt level (69.12% of your daily value) I've taken off a star, even though taste-wise the soup is very good and filling.
I also really like that it's very easy to make, like ridiculously easy. You literally just have to heat it up via Microwave or stove, making it ideal for lunches.
This is a favorite soup of mine. It is hearty, filling, classic home made chicken noodle soup. I prefer rice instead of pasta, as I have intolerance to wheat, also I find the rice is healthier and tastes better. It has wild rice in this soup and a white rice. It is filled with big cuts of carrots and potatoes. It fills you right up and is a perfect, fast, hot meal after a long day that you just heat and serve. The price is always right and it is a definite "fast food" that our body will agree with !!
