Captain America: Civil War is a 2016 comic book film, which is part of phase three of the Marvel Cinematic Universe (or MCU). It's directed by Anthony and Joe Russo and stars Chris Evans, Robert Downey, Jr., Scarlett Johansson, Sebastian Stan, and others.

The plot centres around The Avengers, who have been told that they need to take accountability for their actions. Civilian lives have been lost during the big fights that they've had with various villains over the years, and the government has drawn up the Sokovia Accords as a way for superheroes to register under their real names; that way, if anything goes wrong, they know who is at fault. Tony Stark/Iron Man is all for it, but Steve Rogers/Captain America is against it. Other members of The Avengers choose sides and it becomes a Civil War between the group of heroes.

This is honestly less a Captain America film and more of an Avengers film. Pretty well every cast member is there, except for Hulk and Thor, who are notably absent (each of them went off on their own at the end of Avengers 2 last year; Thor will be reappearing in Thor Ragnarok in 2017). Everyone else, including newbies Ant-Man, Black Panther, and Spider-Man, are all present. The latter two will be getting their own spin-off films in the near future, which will be interesting to see.

This is absolutely action-packed from start to finish, but there is a very good story involved too. Everyone knows that there's massive amounts of damage whenever superheroes get into a battle, so the idea of them having to be held responsible for that damage brings a sense of realism to an otherwise unrealistic universe. Both Captain America and Iron Man have very good reasons for either opposing or supporting the Sokovian Accords, so it's interesting to hear both sides and realize that they're both right for different reasons.

Aside from all of the drama and in-fighting, there's also a great amount of levity. Ant-Man, who had his own movie last year, is like an Avengers fanboy. His delivery is so nerdy and perfect! Spider-Man is very funny as well, giving me hope that this newest reboot (and hopefully final one in my lifetime) will be a success.

This is a really great action film, and one which I would easily recommend to any fans of the MCU or of action films in general. The film is rated PG-13 and has a running time of 147 minutes.

Very good movie, but wasn't crazy about the addition of a new Spider-Man and the Ant Man. They seemed out of place. Would have been much better if the Hulk was there. The Black Panther will be a great addition to future Marvel movies. Worth seeing, absolutely.
