    Horrible reaction

I had never bought these pantiliners before, and I had never been allergic to a pantiliner before. After a day or two, I noticed a horrible dryness, burning, itching, and swelling in my privates. The hair follicles in my private area also seemed to get clogged with something, and several little pimples broke out. (Mind you, I do not have an STD, and I have not had a new partner.) I stopped using these panty liners, just in case they were causing the issue. I had recently started working out again after not working out for a long time, and I wasn’t sure if maybe working out again had somehow caused the issue. I started to feel a bit better after a day or so, and I decided to give these pantiliners one more try. Mistake!!! It was the pantiliners causing the issue all along. As soon as I stopped using them again, I started to feel better. I continue to work out with no problems.

    Deceptive marketing

It turns out that “unscented” doesn’t mean “fragrance-free.” I have been racking my brain trying to figure out why my vagina has been excruciatingly itchy... I went to the doctor and had all the tests run trying to figure out why this has been happening to me. All the tests came back saying everything is normal... finally I decided I was going to look into the ingredients in the carefree panty liners I have been using and low and behold— that information is nowhere to be found. I did some more internet searches and discovered that these liners actually do contain an “Oder neutralizer” A.K.A: FRAGRANCE. So great job, Carefree, you tricked me into trusting your product advertisement. You got my $10 and I got an awkward exam, a doctors bill, and an itchy vagina.

ALLERGIC REACTION (Would never buy this product again)

Are Carefree Acti-Fresh Pantiliners Really “Unscented”?
No. To my knowledge, though I cannot prove it, they are not.
    Let me explain.
I have been using this Acti-Fresh line of products for about 3-months. I also happen to have very sensitive skin, so I expected that this packaged “unscented” brand would be gentle. In this 3-months, I developed an uncomfortable allergy and could not put 1 and 1 together. I ran from my family doctor to walk-ins, checked for other causes of my discomfort, and was told I’m perfectly healthy. Finally one day, I did a simple Google search, where I typed, “Carefree Allergic Reaction,” and low and behold I came across several forums with complaints of rashes, burning sensations, allergic reactions, and overall discomfort related specifically to Carefree’s Acti-Fresh line of product.
So I called Carefree Directly to get consumer information…
On the phone, the representative asked me about what product I was using, and how I was reacting. Here’s the punchline: The representative said, that according to FDA standards, even if a feminine product is listed as “unscented,” the company behind the product is still ALLOWED to use a small level of fragrance. She admitted that Acti-Fresh has an odor-control ingredient that could not be disclosed publicly, and recommended that I use their Original brand which does not have this ingredient. The same lady said she would send me coupons in the mail, and that I could return the product to their umbrella company, Edgewell Personal Care (who also own Playtex, O.B., and Playtex) for lab testing and possible, but not guaranteed, medical expense reimbursement.
I just wanted to share this experience for ladies that have sensitive skin, to not always believe what’s written on the package, because unfortunately, consumers in the feminine care department are not protected by FDA standards, or by companies like Carefree who deliberately use deceptive packaging.
