I've always used Old El Paso Taco Seasoning because I really like the taste. It has some pretty bad ingredients though, so I've looked for healthier, cleaner alternatives. I've tried a few and I've also tried making my own, but I wasn't happy with them. I always wound up by going back to Old El Paso.

This brand isn't available in any stores near me, but it's a great price and even better that it's an add on item, so I thought I would give it a try. The ingredients are all natural and it's gluten free, in case that's a concern.

I used this with two packages of extra lean ground turkey meat, which is more than what it suggests using but the flavour came though loud and clear, which is actually more than I can say for the other brand. This tasted great - everyone in the family really enjoyed it and they didn't notice I had switched brands on them, which is a huge plus. This is our new 'go-to' taco seasoning. It has great flavour even if I use it with a little extra meat, the price is good too and it's all natural, which is exactly what I was looking for.

My taco salad which is in the pictures is simply extra lean ground turkey with the seasoning on a bed of chopped romaine or iceberg with favourite toppings - mine are usually tomatoes, onions, peppers or black olives, shredded mozzarella cheese, guacamole, plain greek yogurt (in place of sour cream), salsa and Mexican green sauce (these last items combine to make a 'sauce' or 'dressing' for the salad.
