I recently had the opportunity to try Catelli Ancient Grains Rotini free through ChickAdvisor.
I'm always trying to find a way to get more protein and fiber into my families diet, so I was excited to try this one. While the taste of these noodles was fine, the texture left me a little off. The pasta didn't "bulk up" in the water, they stayed quite the same size. While I will possibly get them again, I will probably mix them with a different pasta to give it a little more volume on the plate.

I used Catelli Ancient Grains Rotini with a chicken vegetable Alfredo that I made. Although the rotini was quite filling, I found the noodles to be tasteless and chewy. I like the fact that they have 8 grams of fibre and include grains like quinoa. I might try them again with more sauce for flavor but on their own I didn't like the texture or taste.

The positive: This is a healthier type of pasta being 100% whole grains. I feel better serving this to my family rather than regular white pasta. I personally liked the taste of the best pasta. I think it would be best with a tomato sauce or light sauce. I unfortunately made it with a white cream sauce which did not work together at all.
The not so positive: The texture of the pasta is a lot different than that of white pasta. I found the texture to be mealy, which to me is quite unpleasant. This is the only reason I would not purchase again.

As excited as my family and I were about trying this pasta - we all found it hard to retain that excitement once we tried it. The pasta was made according to the recipe "Rotini with 3-peas and pesto" I received in the #ChickAdvisor #gotitfree package (which was a pleasure to unwrap, btw!) but we found the finished product to be dry and rather bland. Perhaps if we tried it with a different recipe or cooking it a different way (it was cooked according to the instructions on the box) we would enjoy it more. Very thankful for the opportunity to be able to try this, though! I'd probably be willing to give it another try using a different recipe in the future.

Thanks Chick Advisor and Catelli for sending in the free Rotini and Sphaghetti for an honest review. I selected the Ancient Grains primarily as my husband is very selective on pastas and for this one, I had no problem convincing that it is a healthy one. So I cooked Rotini with pesto sauce and we had it for supper. It took a little longer to cook and found it not so soft . But husband was happy, kid was not too excited but he did eat it. I was happy to have tried it and would certainly incorporate it in our meals, especially lunches.

This was a miss with my family. It was too earthy and didn't cook to a nice consistency. I found it stayed a little hard and didn't have that smooth pasta taste.
The colour also looked a little odd, it had a brown colour. My kids were very hesitant to try brown noodles. While not starchy it was too grainy and almost gritty for us.

I received this as part of the chick review club. I was excited to try this as I have a toddler who loves pasta! I think it's a great way to sneak in some good grains, while not totally sacrificing the feel of white pasta. I found the taste was good, not too bland, and the texture ok. It wasn't overly grainy as some whole wheat pastas can be. My whole family enjoyed it, including my toddler, so that's a win for us.

Sorry, my family and I made this for supper (to go with our Chili Con Carne) when I received the product free as part of the ChickAdvisor Product Review Club. We did not care for the taste of the pasta, many probably will but it wasnt our favorite :(

I made the Rotini with 3 peas and pesto. I found the Catelli Ancient Grains Rotini to be very grainy tasting and had a bit of a different texture then i am used to. I probably would not buy this product again due to personal preference
