I served the pasta with a homemade caramelized onion and pancetta sauce, topped off with some Piave cheese from Italy, very tasty I must say, Even my 4 year old liked it, nothing beats free.
It was a very delicious spaghetti with carrots and cauliflower added in. However, the carbs and caloric intake is extremely high. We are a family who takes all this into consideration when planning a meal. I try not promote or feed my children these products when they are so high in calories and carbs. I loved though and was quite surprised with the delicious taste!
Thank you Product Review Club for giving me a chance to try this. I'm always looking for healthier ways to feed my family and we LOVE
pasta! I did a side by side taste test with this and conventional spaghetti and thoughy family picked it out right away they had nothing negative to say. It cooked just as easily, good texture with the sauce and tastes great. We will have to look at incorporating this easy change to our family mealtime.
I received my pasta yesterday and wasn't sold on the recipes so I went to their site and found one I thought my family might enjoy: Crockpot Steak Italiano Spaghetti. I was right to do so because it was quite the hit. Although I found the pasta a bit underdone after following the box cooking instructions, overall you couldn't really taste the difference between the veggie and regular white pasta. The sauce masked any difference but when I tried it without any sauce I wasn't too fond of the product. Unfortunately, I forgot to take the pictures but when I make it again, which I most certainly will, I will upload them then.
My problem is the price; I feel like in order to eat healthier, we have to pay far more. I like being able to provide my family with healthier substitutes but due to much higher prices on these items, I find myself reverting to the white pasta alternatives. When you pay almost double for the healthier version your restricting many Canadian families on which "healthier" options they choose. Pay double for pasta or buy some grapes, kiwi or other fruit for my kids? Which option will many choose... the fruit.
Like the product, hate the price.
Will try the Fusilli next week.
Mild taste, just use as you would use any spaghetti turns out great. I have made a tossed veggi spaghetti dish with lots of roasted vegetables topped with Parmesan cheese, good hot or cold
I received a box of this pasta for free as part of the Product Review Club. While I tend to enjoy whole wheat, healthier-tasting pasta, my husband and kids are generally less enthusiastic. My husband cooked this for dinner earlier this week and both my kids (4 and 1 1/2 years of age) ate as much as they usually would with a regular pasta (so tons for the baby, and a smaller portion for the 4 year old, lol). My husband, who is usually skeptical, said that he was impressed with the texture - it didn't feel any thicker, chewier or starchier than regular pasta.
That said, I hesitate to spend extra on this. The added nutrition is nice. . . but not significant enough to justify a (much) higher price. If it were on sale, I would consider picking this up. If not, I'd likely stick with whatever is cheapest.
I received a free box (340g) from Chick Advisor. It was like Christmas when the box arrived with a couple of extra goodies in it - salad spoons and a trivet. Honestly, the spaghetti tasted just like any regular spaghetti so as far as taste goes, it was delicious. My family didn't notice it was different from our usual brand. The fact that it has vegetables incorporated into it, makes it healthier, but when you add a veggie sauce, does it really make a big difference? The retail price listed seems too high for me to actually go out and buy it unless it goes on sale for a super low price. It is almost 2.5 times what I pay for my usual brand (on sale) and the box is almost two thirds smaller.
I love this pasta, my 4 year old loved it as well and my Husband never noticed much difference. It was quick to cooked, i added some homemade pasta sauce and baked it in the oven and turned out delicious!!
Made this spaghetti last night. I just subbed it out for my reg noodles with homemade sauce and meatballs. It was a hit. My son gobbled it up and so did my husband.... they couldn't even tell the difference. Definitely would purchase again.
Catelli smart veggie spaghetti is fantastic. It is the perfect way to sneak some extra veggie goodness in. I received a box from Chic Advisor to sample and review for free. And boy am I ever glad they did. This is now my new go to pasta! You know how when cooking pasta it is hard to measure and you generally make enough to feed an army? Well. There. Was. None. Leftover. Yup you heard that right. My family ate it all!
