The Perfect Beginner Chess Set

This is just what my son and I needed to get us playing together. I'm learning completely from scratch, never played in my life, and he has a little knowledge and experience. Thanks to the included learning cards, he has learnt new moves and terms that he was unaware of and now has a better understanding of the game. For me, I knew nothing and so the learning cards, move cards, learning board and detachable bases are just what I needed! Thanks to the learning sidr of the board, learning and remembering placement for each piece was a breeze! There are three levels of learning cards that take you from basic moves to more advanced moves at your own pace. There's no overflooding of information and resulting confusion. The detachable bases that show the available moves for that piece are genius! The great part is, once your confident and skilled enough, you can remove the bases, flip the board to the standard side and ditch the cards.

Great Introduction to Chess

Wonderful introduction to chess for kids in a fun way. The board shows you how to set it up properly. Cards show very clearly how each piece can move and explain the rules of the game and some basic strategies. It reduces the stress while playing chess, especially for beginners. Highly recommended.

Hours of fun for kids!

Chess Made Simple is a beginner learning chess set labelled for ages 8 and up. However my 4 year old had a blast playing with his 8 year old sister, so I'd say younger kids can enjoy this game too. The chess pieces have detachable bases with directional arrows o them, indicating how the pieces move around the board. There are Move Cards that help show how the pieces move, too. The other deck of cards has 3 levels - the basics, simple strategy, and mighty moves. These levels are essentially the learning cards of how to play the game, and how to plan strategies to win. The game board itself is also double sided with a learning side and a regular playing side. The squares are labelled to reference the cards so it is easy to understand what they are trying to teach. My kids already knew the basics of chess before playing this game, but have since been able to understand more strategy and how to plan their moves, with the help of the advanced levels of this game. A wonderful fun learning game, that gets kids thinking!

Great for everyone

This is so cool! My kids have been interested in chess for a while. The problem is that my knowledge is limited. I taught them the moves, and they would play (poorly). This game is helping us all out. I was reminded of rules I forgot about and learned a few new things.
There are learning cards in three levels that give a bit of history, basic moves, strategies, strong moves, and little challenges. The board is two-sided for beginners and advanced.
I think this would be a great gift for kids/families wanting to play chess. I see it getting a lot of use in our house.

I received this game to test out and give my honest opinion about.
first of all it was packaged inside the box so well nothing moved when it was banged around and dented by Canada Post. ugh
I love that it has 2 sides of the board, one the regular game board and the other side to show what pieces go where, and that it came with detachable bases so you can see where the pieces go on that side of the board.
there is some learning cards to get to know the moves, and the move cards show the powers of each piece see how they move.
Is a great family night game do teach both my Son and I how to play!

Step by step started chess set

My son was very excited to get this game. He always wanted one and now has the option to easily teach his sister how the game is played. The game cards are written out in detail and are easy to understand. They have been at this game for days not. Love seeing lots of giggles instead of arguments. This is a perfect game for someone wanting to learn how to play chess.

Chess made simple

Loved how easy it was to teach my son to play chess. The pieces can separate so you can leave your piece where it was and it’s exactly made for 8 year olds to learn. Lots of suggestions and clear explanations. He is looking forward to keep playing!

Great beginners game!

Thanks @spinmaster and @thisisbutterly @familyrated for the opportunity to try Chess Made Simple for free. My kiddos loved learning how to play and this mom loves how the game grows with them as they became more skilled. The detachable bases are genius! The cards made playing a breeze, even for my 5 year old who had never played before. I definitely will be adding this game to the list of gifts that we will be getting our friends for Christmas as its both educational and fun!

Such a cool idea

My son is 9 and found it super easy to learn chess.. by the end of it he was reminding me how to play. The cards make it super easy and having the reference instead of parent advice makes it a smooth learning experience
