Glittery
I received one of these from Sephora in a lip kit. It was mini in the shade infamous. It’s a pretty berry shade. These work like magic. You apply it to the lips, and let them day down for a minute. Soon after you blot your lips together and they become a beautiful shimmery glitter. It works perfect for a night out. Better maybe for a younger audience, teenagers, and those in their earlier 20s since it is pretty bold, but they are admittedly amazing. You can find them on sale relatively often. I’d recommend giving it a try if you see it.
Amazing effect
I love the glitter effect of this lipstick.
It looks amazing & is so long wearing.
NOTE: It is a matt lipstick, is very drying on the lip but not uncomfortably so & it will settle into the lines & cracks on your lips.
I have noticed because of its drying effect certain shades make my lips appear very small & tight.
Its staying power is incredible which is ideal as this lipstick is not made for re-application, it will start to flake & the more you apply the more drying it appears.
So cool!
I bought this just so I could see the transformation for myself. I picked out the colour Forbidden, which is a deep berry shade. It applies evenly and dries within 60 seconds.
Such an innovative product!
These liquid lipsticks come in the typical liquid lipstick tube and have a doe-foot applicator. The tube has a silver sparkly lid, whereas the rest of the component has silver stars and silver detailing. The tube is clear so you can see the product through the tube. For the shade Iconic, you can see a metallic and shimmery deep navy blue/purple through the clear tube. The doe-foot has a kind of wedge-shape, or step-shape on the underside so that it fits well on your lip during application. I did not notice any obvious scents.
So I chose to buy Iconic, which is described as a black, but it is really a metallic deep navy with a subtle blue sparkle (when first applied). I chose this colour because in all the footage I saw of other people trying these other colours, this one was clearly the star of the show. Of the collection, the darker colours seem to “work better”, in that the sparkle just shows up more because there is more of a contrast. This is especially true with the dark navy colour, because the glitter is mostly a medium blue, with some purple and maybe even some green.
When applying the lipstick, be careful to only do one thin layer. Unfortunately, I have had a bit of trouble with this shade. Honestly, it applies a bit on the patchy side, however I do usually scrape off the doe-foot applicator a bit so there isn’t so much product applied. So maybe that isn’t the best course of action. The goal is to get one thin layer all over your lips, and no more. You may want to use a lip liner, as it is kind of difficult to get a precise line with this lipstick. However, I did not use a lip liner. When first applied the colour is a metallic navy blue, almost black, with some subtle blue shimmer throughout. It is very cool and badass, I must say. After application, make sure you wait at least two minutes before pressing your lips together. This lipstick does seem to emphasize lip lines, but with this darker colour it really didn’t bother me.
After waiting two minutes, press your lips together baby! BAM! You have glitter lips. The transformation with this shade is absolutely breathtaking. All of a sudden there is blue glitter, and it really lightens up the lipstick to make it more wearable, if you can believe it. At least more wearable in my opinion . When you touch your lips, you can’t feel any additional texture from the glitter. However, throughout my wearing this lipstick, I did get a few glitter specks on my teeth, so that is something to watch out for.
In terms of performance, that is where this lipstick starts to have a few issues. As you can see in some of the photos, and the photo below, when pressed together some of the pigment came off the top lip to result in a rather patchy look. I think this is because the layer that I applied wasn’t smooth and thin enough. I did have to touch up here and there because of the slightly patchy application. In pictures you can really notice it, however, in real life it is really not that noticeable to me. The glitter really distracts from any slight patchiness. I would have no problems wearing this as it is seen here in the photos (other than I would try to clean up my lip line a bit). Believe me when I say, the patchiness is really subdued by the glitter.
I only wore this liquid lipstick for a few hours, however during those hours I did eat and drink. I didn’t feel like my lips were turned into a desert, they certainly weren’t hydrated, but I wasn’t uncomfortable. When eating, I purposely chose an oily food. Below is a picture of the wear that I experienced. This lipstick does not hold up great to eating, and it started to transfer after I had eaten (likely because of the oil). Things start to get a little problematic after this, because the lipstick does layer up fine if you want to touch up after. However, when you press your lips together again, the patchiness returns, because you no longer have that nice thin layer on your lips. Additionally, when drinking you should also be aware that the lipstick tends to migrate around in the corners of your lips. However, this may have only started after I had eaten.
This lipstick is an amazing makeup innovation and so fun to play with. I think this would be perfect for attending a party or event, however, it is not something that you can count on to be very long wearing. I would advise you to not eat oily food, and to really watch the lipstick when you are drinking. You may be able to touch up, and it does layer well, however things get a little complicated when you try to reactivate the glitter. This is just a product that might take a little practice getting used to how to apply it perfectly, so that you can get optimal performance.
